This dive site sits off the private grounds of Land House San Nicolas and can only be reached by boat. It is exposed to the trade winds and the sea is ordinarily choppy, with some moderate current present. When the weather permits, the shallow terrace offers excellent snorkeling, with Elkhorn Coral, Brain Coral, and Sea Fans swaying in the swells, and plenty of Goatfish digging up the sand for a quick snack. This is also a good place to make your safety stop at the end of your dive.
The mooring buoy is fixed in 20 feet of water, close to the drop-off, which starts at 25 feet and falls fairly steeply below 120 feet. Both directions are very nice, just start your dive into the current. Visibility is generally excellent, and the reef is in good condition, with healthy colonies of Star Coral, Pencil Coral, Flower Coral, Wire Coral, and even some Black Coral found below 60 feet. The nutrient rich water brings in plenty of fish, including Parrotfish, Doctorfish, Sergeant Majors, Frogfish, Filefish, and Barracuda. Also keep an eye out for Sea Turtles and the occasional cruising Sunfish. This is a good site for both macro and wide angle shots.
