Description

Piscadera Playa Largu (or Long Beach) is located just northwest of Piscadera Bay and is accessible by boat or from shore, though it’s a rather long (15 minute) swim from land. To reach this site from shore, head to Hook’s Hut, just beyond the Hilton and Marriott. Drive past the parking lot to Hook’s Hut and park by the fishing shacks and small boats along the water. Gear up at the car and be careful of the slick rocks at the entry. Swim right, across the bay towards the dive site. The visibility here is minimal, so we recommend snorkeling across. Keep a good eye out for boat traffic, it can get crowded, particularly on the weekends. Expect moderate currents and some surface chop.

On the other side of the bay you’ll find a shallow terrace running from the coral beach to the drop-off. When the weather is calm this makes a good snorkel spot, with Gorgonians and Stony Corals mixed among sandy patches. The drop-off starts at 40 feet and continues below 100 feet. Look for Creole Wrasses, Parrotfish, Needlefish, and Doctorfish swimming among the Brain Coral and Star Coral. The crevasses in the wall are a good place to find Cleaner Shrimp and Lobster.
