Description

Also known as Playa Kenepa, this small scenic beach is a great spot for an after diving picnic. If you come up during the week, you might well feel like a castaway on a deserted island, though on the weekends it can get fairly crowded. To get here by car, head towards Westpunt past the town of Lagun. Take a left at Landhuis Knip (It's also well worth snapping some photos here.), then follow the shore road to Kleine Knip. Parking is free and close to the water; amenities are limited to some shaded areas and a small snack selling refreshments on the weekends.

Enter the water along the left side of the beach. Beware of boat traffic, particularly on the weekends. The cove and surrounding cliffs are ideal for snorkeling and novice divers. Look for Lobster, Morays, Octopus, Damselfish, and Peacock Flounder in the shallows. The drop-off is about a 10 minute swim across a sandy terrace; keep an eye open for sleeping Sting Rays half buried in the sand. We recommend snorkeling out to conserve air for your dive and for the return trip. The wall starts in 40 feet of water and drops to 130 feet. Brain and Star Coral pocked with colonies of Christmas Tree Worms, grow together with Wire Coral, Sea Fans, and Tube Sponges. Parrotfish, Angelfish, Triggerfish, and Goatfish can all be found here.
