Located on the far southeast end of the island, this site is only accessible by boat. The area is unprotected and subject to the full brunt of the trade winds. Significant wave action and currents limit this site to experienced divers. During rare calm weather the shallow terrace makes an excellent snorkel spot.
The mooring buoy is fixed on the plateau in 20 feet of water, a short swim from the drop-off. The shallows here are often referred to as a fairy tale garden and are well worth spending some time. They are lush with Stony Corals and Gorgonians, including Elkhorn Coral and Sea Fans waving in the current. The drop-off starts at 30 feet and falls steeply below 130 feet where it runs into a sandy plateau before gradually falling off once more. Some sections of the reef drop almost vertically, and you can get the idea you’re flying as the current pushes you along. (Watch the depth gauge!) The reef is very healthy, supporting colonies of Sponges, Black Coral, Star Coral, Plate Coral, and Brain Coral. The wall is pocked with nooks and crannies hiding Lobster, Crabs, Morays, and Squirrelfish. A few fortunate divers have even reported Nurse Sharks here.
