Description
Situated off of “Awa di Oostpunt”, this is the most eastern dive site on Curacao. The entire eastern corner of the island is privately owned, so this site can only be reached by boat. The boat ride is usually a bit rough, but the dive location is somewhat sheltered by the peninsula. Since currents can be strong, this area is only recommended for experienced divers. The plus side of the currents is that the visibility is usually fantastic here. The shelf is 30 feet deep and populated by Elkhorn Coral, Star Coral, and a wide array of Gorgonians waving in the current. Depending on the current you can dive either direction here. The drop off starts at 30 feet and descends to more than 150 feet. Green Morays, File Fish, and Butterfly Fish can all be found amongst the good sized Brain Coral and Mountainous Star Coral. Keep an eye open towards the depths as Tuna, Mackerel, Wahoo, and Barracuda frequent the area to hunt.
