Nitrox CourseThe popularity of Nitrox (or enriched air) diving has skyrocketed in recent years. On Curacao, Nitrox fills are readily available for a slightly higher fee than regular air. Nitrox refers to a blend of air with greater than normal amounts of oxygen, between 22% and 40%. Diving with Nitrox allows you to stay underwater longer without exceeding your no-decompression limits, though your maximum depths are restricted with higher levels of oxygen. Many scuba divers also report less fatigue when using Nitrox. The course includes a classroom session and exam, special Nitrox tables, and two open water dives with a Nitrox blend you will personally analyze. This course can be completed in as little as 1 day once you’ve read the book, and it’s open to any certified diver 15 or older. Your certification card allows you to fill your specially marked tanks with enriched air anywhere in the world.

Deep Diver Course

The deep diver course provides students with the knowledge and skills they need to safely participate in deep diving activities. Participants must be at least 15 years old and certified PADI Adventure Divers (or a similar certification from another training organization). Deep dives are conducted at depths ranging from 60 to 130 feet. Four open water training dives are required. All dives remain within the no-decompression limit. With its myriad steep walls, crystal clear tropical waters, and scenic wrecks like the Superior Producer lying in 80 to 120 feet, Curacao is an ideal spot to receive your deep diving specialty and to practice your new skills with your dive buddies.
Underwater Navigator Course The underwater navigator course helps students develop skills needed to navigate underwater in all types of conditions. Participants must be at least 10 years old and certified PADI Open Water Divers (or a similar certification from another training organization). Three open water training dives are required. Students learn natural navigation techniques, compass navigation, estimating distance underwater, and dive site relocation. Curacao’s pristine reef walls offer great opportunities for learning natural navigation, while areas like the Mushroom Forest Flats require diligent attention to a compass to relocate your dive boat without popping to the surface for a quick look.

Night Diver Course

The night diver course prepares students to safely participate in night dives. Participants must be at least 12 years old and certified PADI Open Water Divers (or a similar certification from another training organization). Three open water training dives are required. Students learn about nocturnal aquatic life, proper emergency procedures, use of dive lights, and communicating at night. With visibility regularly over 100 feet, Curacao’s night diving is among the best in the Caribbean. The reefs come alive at night, and dive lights reveal their true kaleidoscopic colors, even at depth. The corrals feed, and creatures like lobster, octopus, and shrimp venture from their homes while parrot fish spin cocoons to sleep away the night.
Underwater Photgrapher course The underwater photographer course introduces students to the techniques needed to take underwater photos. Participants must be at least 10 years old and certified PADI Open Water Divers (or a similar certification from another training organization). Two open water training dives are required. Students learn camera handling techniques, care and maintenance of the equipment, and safety issues related to underwater photography. Curacao’s abundant aquatic life offers fantastic opportunities for underwater photographers of all levels. From sea horses, frog fish, and scorpion fish, to turtles, eels, and rays, to your buddy posing behind the wheel of a sunken Chevy in the Car Pile, the possibilities are limitless.

Wreck Diving Course

The wreck diving course provides students with the skills and knowledge needed for safe wreck diving. Participants must be at least 15 years old and certified as PADI Adventure Divers (or a similar certification from another training organization). Four open water training dives are required. Students learn about the hazards of wreck diving, limited visibility techniques, and working with penetration lines. Penetration is limited to the light zone within 130 feet of the surface, vertical and horizontal distance combined. Curacao offers a variety of interesting wrecks, including the Black Sand Beach Wreck, the picturesque Tug Boat, and the Superior Producer.
