Full-Day Private Tour
Four adults and two children (girl, 8, and boy, 12) reserved a full-day private tour during a visit to Curacao on Navigator of the Seas in March.
We opted for a minivan (over the open-top Landcruiser) so that we could travel in air conditioned comfort.
Our driver and tour guide, Bernice, was excellent. Since it was a private tour, Bernice offered to tailor the itinerary to our interests--and she did that very well. She was very attentive to all of our needs--especially the two children. She joined us in the snorkeling, and snapped a number of photos while we were swimming with the turtles.
When in Curacao again, we will certainly ask for Bernice by name.

Great customer service; great snorkeling
We had a wonderful tour with Howard, who is knowledgeable, helpful and has a terrific sense of humor. My husband is an amputee, and Howard was very accommodating and helpful throughout the tour. We made two excellent stops for snorkeling and then visited a fort. There were only four of us on the tour, and the personal attention was outstanding.

We went on this adventure while we were in Curacao the week of Mother's Day. Howard was our guide and he was fantastic. Knowledgable and very entertaining. Kept us laughing but knew so much about Curacao and its history. Also, I called him the animal whisperer.....from the donkey, to the inguanas, to the birds....and even the chickens...all seemed to come to greet him and get a treat! He even took us for a ride over the big bridge and the beautiful views before dropping us back off at the hotel. He was great! The ocean views were amazing at the coast.......and we saw many different fish and the sea turtles when we snorkeled. It was a great day!

I just returned from Curacao and did the Jeep Shete Boka Tour. Howard was our guide and we had an amazing time. The tour was very thorough and we saw so much of the island and were extremely comfortable renting a car afterwards. Howard was extremely knowledgeable of Curacao and it’s history and boy was he entertaining. I can still hear his “beep, beep”warnings for the bumps on the road. We went to great locations. I highly recommend the tour, company and Howard as a guide. I made our trip that much more special.

This was our first jeep tour of Curacao; in the past we had done water adventures. Howard was our Tour guide; he was very knowledgeable, and gave us one of the best tours ever! We saw so many things and learned a lot about the island. EVERYONE knew him along the way, which was fun and added to the trip. We saw the blow hole, a cave, went snorkeling (he even knew where to take us to see the turtles, and the lunch on this trip was really good. He was also very attentive to our full bladders and gave us a heads-up when the next bathroom stop would be

Booked a shared tour, got a private tour
We booked a shared tour but being the only guests it ended up being a really cheap private tour. We were informed about everything well in advance so we arrived on the island without any worries and we ended up having lots of fun discovering the island. We also had a brilliant guide who did everything as previously were told and he let us take our time without being obliged to. We could not have wished for more. Macha danki (I hope I spelled that right)!!

Curacao Artief is the best!
Best day on a Caribbean island ever! Curacao Artief is a very organized, professional, and flexible company. I found their Shete Boka tour online, but our group of 10 adults was looking for something a little different. This company was very accommodating with our plans. Bernice was our guide and she was FANTASTIC! We got to hike Mount Christoffel, go to Shete Boka and swim with turtles all in one day. Our transportation was comfortable and got us back to our ship in time. I would highly recommend using this tour company!!

Great Day in Curacao
My teenage daughter and I did the full-day with tour Howard. Very beautiful and thorough tour: Juliana Bridge, art work, blow hole, cave, wind mills, lunch, flat tire, snorkel with turtles and fish, flamingoes in salt marsh and trip back to Santa Barbara Resort. We enjoyed learning about Curacao and Howard has a great demeanor, great laugh and answered any questions. He even gave us dinner recommendations. Great way to start our trip and see the majority of the island. Highly recommended.

What a great fun tour!!
After being picked up in the open air jeep, we headed out for an all day tour of the island. There was lots of off road (dirt road) that made it quite adventurous. I am sure we saw things the average tourist doesn't. Our guide Howard was very entertaining, knowledgeable, capable, and did I mention funny? Lunch was simple with rolls and tuna, crab, or chicken salad but was very tasty. plenty of water and punch available for coolers strapped on the back of the jeep. This was really a fun tour! The Sheta Boka Park and the blow holes along the coast was magnificent. The snorkeling was pretty good too. For anyone with a sense of adventure and wanting to see the back country- I would highly recommend this trip!!!

We had a funtastic tour with Howard. It was like being with Dr. Doolittle! He showed us lots of his animal friends-my favorite was when he called the lizards and they came running! I think he knows every person on the island. He was very funny/outgoing and we could not have asked for a better guide.

Private Tour- made the trip!
We had a group of 7 adults and teens and booked the private tour for the 2nd full day we were on Curacao. We are so glad we did! We had Elmer as a guide. He was amazing- knowledgeable, professional, informative, and fun. It was the highlight of our stay. He took us to the west side of the island where we got to see the desert terrain and learn about the island, got to see a bat cave, a boka, and turtles swimming. After that we got to go snorkeling with turtles, cliff jumping, and have some beach time. We finished up with lunch on the way back to our hotel. He showed us areas we could later go back to on the island with our own car. His expertise was invaluable, and we had such a good time. We wanted to do something active with our families, and this was perfect. We highly recommend getting the open air truck for your transport instead of an air conditioned van. It wouldn't have been the same experience. You had shade over your head but a great breeze the whole time, and got to sit facing each other in the back of the truck. They also provided ice water and lemonade. Would not hesitate to book them again- ask for Elmer!!

Private customized day tour
Our 2nd time using this tour group. When we sent an email requesting a tour they remembered when we went before and what we did. We had an Elmer as a guide for the 2nd time and couldn't ask for a better person. He took us on a wonderful tour of downtown, the curaçao liquor factory, showed us most of the resorts because we may want to come and stay a week, took us to 2 beaches. One where we snorkeled with sea turtles(awesome!) and one a beautiful beach where we could jump off 20 ft. cliff into crystal clear water. We also stopped for lunch at a wonderful local restaurant looking over a beautiful beach and cove. It was a great day and couldn't ask for a better time. Highly recommended!!!

A good way to see Curacao
Curacao was our next port of call after Aruba and, like I had done on Aruba, I researched on the net for a tour company. I wanted something that would let the four of us, all seniors, see a lot of the island.
I ended up contacting Curacao Active initially about their 4-hour excursion and heard back quite promptly from Jeffrey Berend, the General Manager. After describing who we were (four, quite pale, senior Canadians!) and what we were interested in, he suggested hiring a guide for the day. He mentioned that the tour we had first thought of was in an open-air, Toyota Land Cruiser-style vehicle with passengers sitting sideways in the back. (I would have been fine with that but my other family members might have found things a bit too hot, bumpy etc.) So, we ended up with a small Nissan-style van with AC and a seven-hour tour for, I guess, about $60 more in the total cost!
I was glad that we did that. We were now free to see some points of interest that were not on the four-hour tour. Mr. Berend was very quick to respond to me about any questions I had. Payment was through credit card and I received a receipt. The next email gave me detailed information about how to meet the driver - in our case, Alan Vinck - and even a photo of him plus contact numbers.
Alan turned out to be a retired businessman who does 3 or 4 tours weekly. He had, as one would expect, an intimate knowledge of the island. Starting off, he showed us the older areas of Willemstad before heading off to the coastal regions. He helped plan our route based on several points of interest that we had including the Hato caves.
I'll digress for a moment to say that we all enjoyed the caves. Other than a fairly longish stone stairway up to the entrance, the Caves are very accessible: well-marked and lit pathways with an accompanying and knowledgable guide. For those who might feel a bit timid about the caves, I can assure you there is nothing scary, no tight spaces etc.
We went next to the west end of the island - a drive of about 45 minutes - to Christoffel Park. Beautiful scenery and right on the water.
Throughout the trip, Alan carried on a steady - but not intrusive - dialogue about what we were looking at, the history of the island etc. Happy to answer questions, he gave us a good insight into the people and the culture of Curacao.
We stopped for a late lunch out in the south-west end and then headed back to the ship terminal nearly seven hours later, a bit tired but definitely not bored. All agreed that this had been an enjoyable tour.
I don't really have any negatives. One thing, though: if you get to Curacao on a Sunday as we did, there are not a lot of places open, stores are generally closed.
Full marks to Jeffrey for quick, business-like responses to questions. And, as I have mentioned, we were very happy with our guide, Alan.

Great tour, great guide!!
We have just spent a great day with passionate and funny Howard, our guide for the Full-Day Shete Boca et Snorkel Jeep Tour. We loved every bit of it! Beautiful spots, great insights from Howard about the island, its culture and the beautiful landmarks. The tone was very light, joyful and Howard’s main motto was to have fun! What more to expect from such a tour? Should we happen to return to Curaçao, no doubt we would ask Curaçao Actief to show us around one more time!
Thanks a lot for everything Howard!

Ansonsten: Daumen hoch!

Best part of our 7 day cruise
You have to do this tour with Howard! We did it on Wednesday 3/22/18. We were on a 7 days cruise and did not book an excursion for Curacao. On Tuesday night we were looking at some excursions on Trip Advisor, on the ships internet station, and saw this one, we read the reviews and by chance sent an email to Curacao Actief. We did not have phone service so could not call. The next morning they contacted me and said they did have an open spot for the two of us with Howard. So the full day trip had 8 of us in an open air Jeep. Howard made the day. He covered much more than we imagined. We had a fantastic time. Howard was well informed, funny, very knowable, and very personable. He really took his time with all of us. Go on this trip with Howard and you will not be disappointed. Curacao Actief was very accommodating and the price for the tour was extremely reasonable. So if you want to see the best sites, find out lots of info you would never see on a big tour and best of all get to swim with the turtles. Oh did I mention turtles we were actually swimming with 8 at once. Howard really knew where to go. Oh and did I mention the Flamingo's. It just keeps getting better. If I could give this a 10 rating I would.
"Thank You Howard!!!! We loved the Tour. John & Beata from Wisconsin.

Best Day in Curacao
Stopped in Curacao while on a cruise and had the best day on land in the entire 10 day cruise trip. Bernese picked us up at the ship and we got very lucky - all the other people that had signed up for the day did not show up so the three of us got a private tour! She gave us a history drive tour of the island and then took us to several sites to snorkel. The day was spectacular with the highlight being Bernese herself. She was fun, funny, smart and very engaging! I would go to Curacao just to spend the day with her again.

Just as good second time around
Four years ago we took the "Tugboat and Reef Snorkel" in Curacao with Curacao Actief and had enjoyed it immensely. When we were coming back this year I tried to get the same guide that we had had in 2014. For some reason we were unable, but this time we got Harold. Now, our previous guide was really good, but Harold would be hard to beat. Also this time we got a tour of Fort Beekenburg, which we didn't previously.
We piled into the back of a small pickup truck fitted with seats and a canopy. We took cover from a surprise rain storm before continuing on. First stop was a reef where you just walk in the water. And the coral was active and alive and colorful, as were the fish. After spending maybe 30-45 minutes at that location we drove a little farther to the location where the tugboat wreck was.
The tugboat wreck is located maybe 100 yards off shore and is fun to snorkel around. Just past the wreck is a steep dropoff where i tried a little free diving. Harold had given me some pointers about how to actually do some [limited] free diving.
After having plenty of time to snorkel around the tugboat and dropoff, we got back into the pickup and drove a few hundred yards to Fort Beekenburg. The fort is a small ruin that is rather well-maintained. I love old forts, and this one, although quite small, was interesting.
For this trip, we had been joined with other friends, and all of us enjoyed it. Highly recommend!

One of the best day tours we ever had on an island.
We booked the day tour directly on line with them as we had a planned stop in Curacao during our cruise. We didn’t know what to expect as we knew Curacao is rather arid and we wanted to avoid we just stroll the old city which we could have done by ourselves.
At the end the tour was just great both informative and fun. We started with a short visit and history speech on the island and its main city but we agreed to go back and have own pace walk in the city at the end of the tour and give the maximum time to the island itself. We were also lucky as that day we were just one couple for the tour so the guide could adapt to our preferences which he did very well.
We practically visited the whole island and stopped to check if we want to stay longer or not in a place. We visited all the main beaches including Grote Knip but as we were keen to see turtles we spent most of the beach time on Playa Grandi. There are fishermen bringing their catch there and the turtles plus other fish are all around – just be respectful to them as sometimes people go crazy chasing them. The guide had also snorkeling gear which is perfect if you don’t carry your own.
We stopped also in the liquor factory just to quickly check the process and buy a bottle of the famous drink – check the Tamarind taste we liked it the most.
The guide was really the key to this tour success as he knew exactly in which spots to stop for panoramic pictures or local attractions but also was very educated about everything concerning the island from nature, history to politics so we really enjoyed every site and we felt we got so much in terms of really knowing Curacao from someone living there.
We would recommend for sure you take a tour with them and try to cover as much of the island in that time while the visit of the main city can be done by yourself.

This tour was very professionally run. We had 20 participants, requiring 2 vans. There were two guides for every 10 participants and they were outstanding, particularly helpful to the couple of guests who had mobility issues and needed assistance. Berenice, as others have said, is friendly, knowledgeable and hugely entertaining. Our other guide, Andrew, was so patient with those needing individual attention. Our driver's name was Marlon.
The excursion included two snorkel stops, one at Tugboat Beach and one at another beach nearby. Both sites were an easy swim from shore and offered amazing coral and an abundance of aquatic creatures. My research had indicated that Curacao was likely the best snorkeling port on our cruise itinerary, but we were still amazed at just how good it was. Berenice indicated Tugboat Beach was the most crowded she'd EVER seen it. Fins in the face can be a little frustrating, but it was still a GREAT experience. The second stop was perhaps even more incredible than the tugboat and we had it all to ourselves! After the second snorkeling stop, we were supposed to go to Fort Beekenberg, which is located between the two beaches. We had some people with mobility issues on our tour, and the fort involves a lot of steps. The itinerary was changed on the fly and we instead visited the liquor factory, where we could participate in a free tasting and/or tour. We did stop at another fort, but it had been converted to a mall or restaurant or some such, so we didn't go inside. Not sure that stop was really worthwhile.
I highly recommend this tour and company.

This Jeep tour was made wonderful by our funny and animated guide, Howard. We visited the widely uninhabited side of Curacao, driving along the coast where we saw water cannons shooting up from rock openings created by the ocean, sea turtles foraging for food in the Boka, and Kunuku Houses. Howard was very knowledgeable about his Island, and entertaining during the entire tour.
This is a wonderful excursion for those who do not have mobility or back problems as advertised, since you need to climb steps to enter the back of the jeep, which seats 8, and the terrain is a bit rough when you are off-road. Wear sunscreen and enjoy!

Amazing private tour with Elmer!
I had booked this months in advance. The company does ask for payment in advance, but no worries! Our tour guide was waiting for us when we arrived. To me, it's nice to pay in advance and have one less thing I need to worry about or have cash for when we arrived. But, I digress! Elmer was fantastic, and waiting for us when we reached port! We arrived in port late (3:00 pm their time) and so we didn't have a great number of choices of snorkeling sites with only hours of daylight. But Elmer was the best! I had my 86 year old father and 82 year old mother with me, and Elmer was super patient! He spent a great deal of time helping my mother. My sole desire was to allow them to snorkel from the beach due to the fact they are not strong enough to climb a ladder out of the water into a boat. They both were able to snorkel and enjoy the water. Elmer was perfect. Afterwards we toured around the island and ended up at the fort where we were hoping for a terrific sunset. Elmer made the trip perfect. The six of us were all very happy with the tour and snorkel. Elmer gave us his full attention and we never felt rushed at any of our stops. Do not hesitate to book with Curacao Actief!

Wonderful way to see the island!
I highly recommend this 1/2 day tour. George was on time to pick up our merry band of 8 from our cruise ship and provided a brief history of the island before we were off to the north west side of the island. The terrain changed to volcanic formations at one stop. We went into a cave used by escaping slaves. It was quite dark so to be sure to have a flashlight and closed toe shoes(or at least not flip flops!) and then on to Shete Boka Natural Park and Boka Pistol. Waves crashing to shore and stunning views. We were provided with water and lemonade at each stop. The vehicle is open sides so you might get wet and muddy if there has been recent rain. It was a wonderful time. With a stop to see flamingoes on the way back to the ship.

Awesome way to see the island! This is the tour for nature lovers. We saw caves, bats, flamingos, sea turtles. Our guide, Howard, taught us so much! He is wonderful and knowlegable, a true native. Being in the back of a truck was so much better than inside a van, besides you need 4 wheel drive to go on back roads. It was bumpy but not bad, weather dependent though.

Elmer is great!
We arrived on a Sunday, when many attractions are closed. We had arranged ahead of time to see as much Jewish historical sites as possible, as well as see whatever was available on a Sunday.
Elmer met us exactly as the directions said and began with an overview of the history of Curaçao , including the Jewish migration. He drove us through both parts of downtown, then to the East end and finally to the West end, with stops along the way. He took us to a lunch spot that we thought was great local color and food. He really enjoys educating others about his country and continues to educate himself about various matters related to Curaçao. When we asked a question he couldn't answer, he immediately said he was going to research it. We thoroughly enjoyed our time with him!

Excellent Private Tour
My kids (19 and 17 year old daughters) and I were on Royal Caribbean ship with 1 day in Curacao. I considered renting a car and doing the self guided tour but ended up booking full day private tour with Actief. We had wonderful experience -- 5 STARS PLUS! Actief was very professional in advance of our arrival confirming our reservation and providing lots of info to help plan our day. Our tour guide (Alan) was terrific. Car was very nice and air conditioned. I joked near the end that if the minister of tourism for Curacao were to quit that Alan would be an excellent choice to fill the job as he is very proud and well informed about Curacao. We had great day with brief tour of the city and then off to one of the forts. We were most looking forward to seeing the rugged coastline and the other natural features. Alan was able to provide some exclusive access to places which allowed us to see a small cave within the gates of one of the hotels and also drove us right up to one of the nice features in the coastal park that many others had to walk to. He promised we would be able to swim with some turtles and he made that happen. He chose 2 great beaches for us to swim and gave us enough time to take a dip and still see the other points on our list. Our focus was on the nature sights rather than the city, but I am sure he would be great for city tour too. Was definitely worth the money considering all the time one would spend trying to get and return the rental car, planning the day by yourself, and the wrong turns one would likely make or sights that you would simply not know about or would be unable to find. I had thought about hiking to the tallest point on the island but Alan recommended that we NOT do that and this was excellent advice. We were there for just 1 day and that would not have been a good use of our limited time. Might be a good idea to do the hike if you are going to be on the island for several days. Beautiful island with lots to see and I highly recommend this company for doing so. Thanks again Alan!

Super fun snorkeling tour on great island with unique, funny tour guide!
Wonderful snorkeling locations (from beach) with super guide!
Went with Curacao-Actief snorkeling tour as a shore excursion. Booked directly on Internet. Easy!! Exact name of tour was "Tugboat and Reed Snorkel Tour." We had only 5 people on the tour, which helped make it enjoyable too.
Our guide, Bernice, was really great. A lifelong local with a great sense of humor. She even does funny voices!!! Really made the whole tour very enjoyable.
Both snorkeling locations were at Caracas Bay (Caracasbaai). First was right off beach with great fish to see. Second was just down the road at a sunken tugboat. Had to swim a fair bit from shore, but good variety when you got there.
Another good thing was that they had top quality gear including snorkeling vests (the kind you inflate with your mouth, only when needed.
We also got a bonus tour with history and nature facts at the castle next to the Bay.
Overall, really really great tour!!! Guide was excellent!!! Highly recommended.

This tour was well-organized and enjoyable. I was picked up from the cruise pier right on time. After an informative tour of the island by our guide, we snorkeled from a beach to a nearby reef, which was rich with fish and coral. We then drove to a nearby site to snorkel to the tugboat wreck, which was a bit of a distance from the shore (on the day we snorkeled there was some current, but it wasn't too strong so it was a fairly easy swim to the wreck - and we saw a school of cuttlefish along the way!). While there were certainly a lot of fish at the wreck, this site was more crowded than the first one (another snorkeling group had arrived by boat) and for me less enjoyable because of that. But overall, excellent trip and fun guide; I would definitely book this tour again.

we had such a great time on this tour! we were able to see pretty much the entire island from the back of an open air jeep. the island is so beautiful and our tour guide was really fun and knowledgable! we were able to see the fossilized, coral beach on the north side, the windmills that support the island electricity, and the bokas were spectacular! the highlight of the trip was swimming inches away from beautiful green sea turtles! they are pretty much guaranteed to be there due to the local fisherman throwing the scraps from their days catch back into the ocean.

Our trip started with Bernice picking us up at port and giving us a great learning/history tour of the island along the way to our first snorkeling stop. We learned a lot about the island and the fish. The first stop we saw a lot of colorful fish and coral..I would consider this an easy snorkel and good for people unsure of their abilities. The tug boat was cool and a lot of fish hanging inside and out of the boat. We saw a group of squid..that was awesome! We then stopped at the fort on our way back to port with bernice telling us about the history of the island. Our guide made this trip fantastic..thank you for a great day!

We went on two tours (booked by Viator) and these are not IMO optional ...
... if you're in Curacao you *must* take these tours. One tour took us to the north part of the island, where we saw the bulls-eye, the blow-hole, the Chrisstofel park ... the amazing coast. We finished up by snorkeling at Kokomo. The second tour was some interesting history (especially Willemstad), the sunken pier snorkeling, the sunken tugboat snorkeling, the Shete Boca, the flamingoes and the West Point "snorkeling with the turtles".
These were all fantastic. But the real key was how nice the tour people are. Just an example: Our second tour they knew that we'd missed the turtles on the first one, and they drove us miles to join another tour so that we could meet Crush.

A little too much adventure, but great snorkeling
This tour provided a lot of interesting information about Curacao's natural history. The jeep tour was fun but very bouncy due to the rugged terrain. You are riding through the desert for a few hours so make sure to bring snacks and hydrate. There are two big jugs at the back of the truck - one with water, one with lemonade. The tour guide provided cups but it's easier to refill and hold onto your water bottle. There are also no bathrooms around for those few hours until the lunch break unless you want to pee by a cactus. We visited two blowholes and a voodoo cave with bats. Bats did not bother you as long as you were quiet and you can still take pictures of them. I recommend sneakers.
They provided a picnic lunch in a shaded area with bathrooms. We ate tons of bread and yummy spreads such as chicken salad, tuna, and crab salad.
The snorkeling was the best and shortest part. We spent about an hour at a beach (forgot which one) and saw tons of fish and sea turtles without being so far from shore! The tour guide joined us snorkeling and would let us know if he saw something cool like a huge turtle. We were given snorkeling equipment including flippers and our guide would wash our masks for us to prevent from fogging up. Our belongings were kept safe in the van.
I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 because the uncomfortable jeep ride part of the tour took the entire morning. I wish the time allocated for snorkeling was a lot longer. The tour guides were also great and entertaining.
For anyone doing this tour, I recommend the following:
-wear sneakers for the caves and blowhole
-bring a water bottle and snacks
-have your bathing suit on already or change during lunch time (no facilities at the beach)
-a cap/hat that tightens to your head (open jeep wind)

Absolutely the best!!!
Thank you to Curacao Actief Tours for giving us the best experience on our whole vacation! Alan, our tour guide was very warm and welcoming. He answered all our questions about the island and then some, and personalized the tour as it was just my husband and myself. Alan took us all around the island for the East and West Full Day Tour. The tour was so amazing (Floating Bridge, Grote Knip, Shete Boka Park, Boka Tabla, the flamingos, Jaanchie's Restaurant and so much more), my husband and I WILL be planning a vacation to Curacao in the future, as our cruise port stop was nowhere near enough time for us. We totally fell in love with the island.
I honestly feel bad for anyone on my cruise who didn't book an excursion with Curacao Actief - they missed out big time!

First Time to Curacao, Great way to see alot in a day
Kurt was great.
This was a Truck with bench seats in the back along both sides with a Cover over the top. This is an all day trip, though they have a half day that skips the beach.
This was an off road adventure. Temp was around 84 and sunny, but with the truck moving, it was cool enough in the back.
Kurt took us all over the island, pointing out landmarks, talking about the animals and plants we were seeing.
We went to a blow hole and go out and were able to go down by it, saw crabs, got my feet wet.
Stopped by a location with Sea Turtles that you could look over on.
Stopped by a bat cave went in and saw the bats.
Stopped by another blow hole, again was driven up to it, so didn't have lots of walking to do on this trip.
Water and Lemonade(?) were available from coolers attached to the back of the truck (those orange ones you see on the back of utility trucks). We refilled our water bottles from it several times.
Served lunch, was sandwiches with Crab, Chicken or Tuna salad, veg, and bread.
Dropped off the half day passengers and went to Westpunkt Beach and swam with Sea Turtles, the water was only 8-10 feet deep at most at that location and the turtles were right there by you. Also large school of fish and small fish by the reef/rock area. Stayed there about an hour. They provide equipment for snorkeling. My wife loved this the best on our cruise.
The we went and saw the Flamingos, there were 20-30, including a juvenile white one.
Go dropped off at the boat, Kurt was kind enough to take my wife on to the shopping area and drop her off there.

Kurt was punctual, knowledgeable and entertaining. Yes, it's bumpy but your back and bottom are supported by a padded bench making it more comfortable to enjoy the adventure into secluded nature...night and day difference from what you see in port. It's rocky, hilly terrain as you periodically follow the blue shoreline. We experienced a walk through a cave, the blow hole in Shete Boka, seeing flamingos in their natural habitat, a drive over the big bridge for photo opportunities and even ate local berries along the road! Kurt had a wicked sense of humor and had us, along with another couple, in stitches! After the tour we still had time for us to find a Xmas ornament our kind of souvenir and cross the bridge for a little shopping. We're so happy it was a small group tour and we could enjoy the great outdoors in the back of a covered and open air Toyota Landcruiser. Ideal tour for 6 to 8 guests! Great tour company...thanks again Kurt

We had the privilege of having Bernice as our tour guide, she was EXCELLENT!! Bernice picked us up at the cruise port and started right in with the history and culture of Curacao and a city tour. We went to two locations to snorkel, the first location was a local's beach where we snorkeled near the rocks, saw all kinds of beautiful fish and we were in very calm waters. The second location was the Tugboat location, again Bernice was very attentive to the four of us. It is a MUST DO if you ever have the opportunity to go to Curacao make sure you ask for Bernice she is wonderful. P.S. bring water shoes, the best spots to snorkel are at the rocky beaches.

Zeker doen!

Wonderful World of Water Jeep Tour
I used Curaçao-Actief for both my airport transfer as well as the Wonderful World of Water Jeep Tour. To say the tour is a bit of a bumpy ride would be an understatement. To say it was the best tour I've ever gone on would also be an understatement. It was an absolute blast! The day is long, the roads are very rough, and you will need lots of sunscreen... but you will get such an amazing experience. Our group had five people which I felt was perfect and comfortable. The guide (I believe his name was Kurt) was hysterical! He had us laughing from the moment he picked us up from the hotel. Along the route he would stop periodically to point out local flora and fauna. At each point of interest, you would see a view of curaçao more impressive than the last! I never knew what to expect next. We had a surprisingly delicious picnic lunch which consisted of fresh rolls with a selection of tuna, chicken, or egg salad. The day ended with snorkeling where our guide made sure we got to swim alongside sea turtles. It was my favorite day of my trip and well worth it!

East west tour with Elmer!
This was the highlight of our trip!! Picked up at our door in a timely manner by our wonderful tour guide, Elmer (who is an accomplished dancer, ask him to moonwalk). We spent a delightful morning touring the east side of the island. Highlights include the curacao liqueur factory, fort nassau, and the wonderful views. Elmer gave us a fantastic history of the island and the culture that surrounds it throughout the tour. In the afternoon, we headed to the west side of the island, visiting many beaches, snorkeling with turtles, eating a delicious local lunch, and exploring a dramatic seascape with fossilized coral and caves. Elmer was kind, courteous, engaging, full of humor, and a wonderful (patient) photographer. He also took personal requests to visit certain areas on our way or spend more time than planned at our various stops. He gave fantastic recommendations about the island and our stay! Overall, the tour was breathtaking and Elmer was an amazing ambassador of Curacao (and new friend).

Natural Treasures/Natuurlijke Schatten
My wife and I took the Natural Treasures/Natuurlijke Schatten tour while vacationing on Curacao and we're very glad we did. We were kindly asked to leave a review and they definitely deserved one.
The tour took around 8 hours of the day total. We were picked up directly from our hotel. The vehicle was an open jeep, making the rides enjoyable and very bearable on this hot day. We were trying to stay properly hydrated, which meant drinking breaks at every stop. Not a problem. Most of the stops contained a nice fresh breeze anyways.
Our driver, Howard, has lived on Curacao for his entire life, something we were definitely not able to guess right off the bat. His knowledge and stories about the island proved it. He made the trip very interesting and fun for everyone.
Overall this was a great way to become familiar with Curacao. This tour and Howard made the trip much more memorable. Great guides like him make a big difference on long tours like this one.

Amazing Snorkeling in Curacao
Wanted to spend the morning snorkeling and this was the perfect trip. Bernice was our guide and she loves her island. She is also a teacher and made the 7 and 9 year old kids that were also on this trip very comfortable. That made the trip fun for everyone. We were told about the history of many of the towns buildings, history of the island and many other things you would never find out traveling on your own.
The trip start right outside the cruise port. You go straight out and veer to the right when you can right pass the big umbrellas and go to the yellow security gate. All none cruise tours start here.
We were driven through town and up and over the tall bridge, what a view and taken to and beach where we had our first snorkel. We saw many fish at this reef and our guides answer all of our questions, saw and eel and octopus also. They have the gear if you need it and life jackets too.
Next we traveled over to another beach and here we swam out to where a tugboat was sunk, you can swim down to it and go inside if you wish, many fish here also.
Afterwards we took a tour of a fort and then headed back to the ship, it was a great morning make better by Curacao Actief and Bernice our guide.

Wonderful World of Water Jeep Tour

My husband and I booked two different tours with Curacao Actief on our short trip to Curacao, and we could not have been more pleased. The first tour we did was the full day Wonderful World of Water tour of the more rugged northwestern side of Curacao. We were very surprised to find that we were the only ones who had booked the tour (it was the low season). Our tour guide Kurt was excellent and gave us his full energy, attention, and enthusiasm even though it was only the two of us. It was a day of great experiences - off-roading in the open safari vehicle, a little bit of cave exploring where we were able to observe a colony of bats, lots of lovely views of the coastline with a stop at a natural blowhole, and a stop at a gorgeous beach called Playa Kenepa. The highlight, however, was going to Playa Piskado, where we snorkeled right off of the beach and came into extremely close contact with sea turtles. Kurt is a licensed dive instructor and enjoys being in the water; we heard that a lot of tour guides from other companies leave you on your own to snorkel. This is a great tour for a first time snorkeler, particularly if you have Kurt as your guide. Also, the snorkeling tours this company offers are easy - all of the sites that we snorkeled were right off of the beach, no long trips out into the ocean and jumping off of boats, etc. We enjoyed the tour very much and booked the half-day Tugboat Reef and Snorkel for the following day. For that trip, there was just one other couple besides us and Kurt was our tour guide again. We snorkeled at two different spots. We saw a good variety of fish at each stop and it was very cool to snorkel the sunken tugboat. We also got to see more of the island (this time the southeastern side) and had a number of stops to check out scenic views where Kurt took pictures of us. I highly recommend this company.

Wow - just an amazing group of people
We dealt with Curacao Actief many different times during our stay in Curacao - pickup and dropoff from the airport, 2 different tours, questions on the phone. To summarize our experience with them - unbelievable.
From dealing with Jeffery on the phone (he was extremely welcoming and accommodating) - to Kurt who led us on an all-day tour (Extremely knowledgeable, funny, and professional) - to Patricia who led us on a quick tour of some major sites (So welcoming, funny, patient) - to Bernice who led us to some really interesting locations (Very friendly and knowledgeable, gave us great advice on a location near our hotel) - everyone was just amazing.
Makes you wish there was a business like this everywhere you go - so you get to really see and learn about the location you're at.
A quick story from our trip that sums up the care the Curacao Actief puts in their work: in the morning while sight-seeing with Patricia we came across some lizards that I mistakenly thought were iguanas. Patricia let us know that they were in fact just some lizards - and if we got lucky we may run into some iguanas later on in the tour. Well - later on in the tour we met back up with Patricia after being with Kurt for a while (without seeing any iguanas yet) and Patricia came up to us very excited stating that she had come across an iguana earlier and had snapped a picture for us to look at on her phone.
A simple story - yes - but I found it to be incredibly nice that she remembered our lizard encounter and captured a photo for us to see. Very evident there's a lot of pride in their work. We basically have stories like this for each employee here - very personably people - just an awesome experience.

What a Day!
We had the privilege to have Curt as our all day guide last week. The Wonderful Water/Land tour (about 8 hours) is one of the top tours we have had in our travels around the Caribbean. Curt was so considerate and patient, making sure my husband had the best photo opportunities. The sea turtle swim was so much fun and Curt swam with us to ensure we saw several turtles. We were on a cruise ship and pick up was easy and they were waiting outside the security gate just as described. I highly recommend this experience.

Wonderful World of Water Jeep Tour

Amazing day in Curacao!
We booked the East and West island tour, as we came in on a cruise ship just for the day and wanted to see some of the island. I didn't know much about Curacao and I figured that would be a great way to get an overview and see some of the island. Our guide Alan picked us up promptly from the Mega Pier (the pictorial directions included for how to find your guide from the cruise ship are super helpful!) and we took off on a grand adventure. It was a small group, just my boyfriend, myself, and one other lady, and Alan tailored the tour to our interests. We stopped briefly for souvenirs and he took us to a nice restaurant for lunch, and the rest of the tour was spent actively sightseeing. We got to see everything from neighborhoods, natural wonders, the oil refinery, and even pink flamingos! We also swam at Knip Beach for about 45 minutes, which was beautiful and a great way to cool down after the active sightseeing.
I just can't praise Alan enough. He grew up on the island but is widely traveled and lived in Europe for some time, so we had a lot to talk about and were able to place a lot of things about Curacao in context. This ended up being our favorite of our four cruise port stops, and maybe my favorite of all time. I can't wait to get back to the island someday!

Best tour in the city
We booked this tour through their website. Even though you have to provide your credit card before hand it was very safe and I did not have a problem with it. The day of the tour Elmer got us and he was so nice and knowledgeable. The tour was private which made it more awesome. He really took his time to show us around and made sure to explain their history and culture. He made stops and let us explore at our own pace without rushing us. Next time we visit we'll make sure we have Elmer as our tour guide. You should request him as well. He is the best!!!

I booked my trip through Expedia and they were assigned as my transfer from the airport to the hotel. They were great and I felt safe.
They handed me a pamphlet with tours and I decided to call last minute in the morning to book a tour for the same day and they accommodated me very quickly. In about 20 minutes the driver Alan was picking me up and took us for a tour to show us the island. Alan was so nice! Communication with the office was easy and they send many emailed confirming everything which made my life easier. I definitely recommend them.

Wonderful Tour of Curacao
We booked the all day tour of Shete Boka National Park and the Playa Lagun Snorkel through Trip Advisor instead of choosing a tour through our cruise ship and we are glad that we did! We covered a lot of ground along the western/rugged portion of Curacao, featuring Shete Boka National Park, Kenepa Beach, Kueba di Brua, Boka Patrick, and Playa Lagun (for snorkeling). There were many more sites along the way and there are too many to list! There were 4 of us in the open air jeep and it was perfect for spreading out and relaxing during the tour. The roads are bumpy and about half (if not more) of the tour is on unpaved roads, but we were warned about this ahead of time. We had plenty of time to explore each destination and take pictures. Our guide Kurt was funny and informative and he frequently stopped to give us tidbits of information and fun facts throughout the trip. We weren't sure how much we would see during the snorkeling portion, but we were pleasantly surprised at how many sea turtles and schools of fish were around and easily viewed at a close distance. It was exhausting and fun day that we wouldn't hesitate to recommend to others visiting the area!

Rugged Off Road Tour!
If you like to see the wild side of Curacao, this is for you! We had 8 in our jeep, and traveled with another jeep. We saw the rugged coast, blowholes, windmills and the water rushing in through the cave at the Shete Boka Natural Park. The landscape at times looked like the moon (big rocks everywhere) or Arizona (cacti and dry). The only negative is its very bumpy and dirty - no need to shower BEFORE this tour!

10/10 Tugboat Snorkel and Private Tour
This is the perfect way to fully experience Curacao. Snorkeling by the tugboat makes everyone feel like the little mermaid and Javier, our tour guide, knew the best spots and was always looking out for us. We loved our snorkelling experience AND tour guide so much we signed up for an all day private tour the next day. He customized our tour to our tastes and took us to see about 75% of the whole island in one day! He also took us to the perfect restaurant forbsome local food where the owner sits down next to you and talks you through the menu. I don't know what we would have done without Javier or this company. They truly made our vacation unforgettable! Thank you Javier!

Tugboat and Reef Snorkel
We did this excursion in April 2017. There was a small group of six of us on the excursion. Bernice picked us up very promptly at the Mega Pier. She was actually about 20 minutes early of the appointed time. Bernice took us on a little tour of Curacao as we were traveling to our first snorkeling spot. We did three snorkeling stops in all. The snorkeling was a lot of fun, we saw a lot of interesting fish and under water sites. We visited the site of Curacao's old immigrant quarantine center, the old castle/fort then after the third snorkeling stop, Bernice did some more touring around Curacao for us. It was a lot of fun and a great value!

Private family tour
We are a family with 3 kids ages 10-14. Javier was our guide, who was fantastic. When we return to Curacao we will hire him again and Curacao Actief to plan the perfect days for us.
They planned an entire day around our interests. They mapped it so we could see and experience as much as possible in the time frame. He was fantastic at making adjustments as needed, such as when the kids were getting too much sun and needed a "skin break" to protect them. He would see things that we found interesting (iguanas) and add extra spots along the way to engage the kids with their passions. He even snorkeled with us and took us to beaches that were gorgeous and safe for the kids to swim. It was windy, so the knowledge was imperative. Our family has food allergies and they called ahead to make reservations at a delicious location that could cater to our food restrictions. Javier also helped translate for us when the kids selected candy to make sure they did not get sick. If you suffer from celiac disease, this is the way to travel in curacao.
Javier was a very safe driver, which allowed us to relax and take it all in throughout the journey. The parks, viewpoints, caves, shopping, history, plantations, ocean, food....all of it was perfect. His vast knowledge of the country made the trip educational and interesting, too. He exposed us to some hidden places if the island so we can plan our next trip accordingly. Hands down, our best day on the island! I wish I booked this adventure on the first day of vacation...so we could book more. He even had a cooler of cold water to make sure we stay hydrated. The lunch was the best lunch of my life: Landhuis Klein Santa Martha. The venue was stunning and the meal was delicious. The kids swam in the pool while we enjoyed a glass of wine overlooking the beautiful scenery. Celiac Disease makes it difficult to travel, but Actief made it safe and enjoyable. Thank you!

Outstanding East and West Island Tour!!
The tour my Dad and I took of the island was phenomenal in every way. Our tour guide, Alan was extremely knowledgeable and went out of his way to make our experience a memorable one. This was the best tour we took on our 14 night Caribbean cruise hands down. As there was only the two of us, we ended up having a private tour of the island. Alan made sure my 91 year old father was well taken care of and that we saw everything we wanted to. I can't say enough of how friendly, respectful and kind he was. We learned so much about the island and can't thank him enough for making our experience one we will never forget. The customer service Alan provided was exceptional and I would highly recommend this company. Also, our initial communications with Bettina were very prompt and friendly.

We also explored other aspects of the island including beaches more frequented by locals, and this provided us with some good ideas for coming back. The guide also provided some g ood history lessons and information on the island. The guide also had water and lemonade on this truck and this was a nice gesture.
Overall a wonderful tour that showed the different side of island and one that we would not have seen on our own.

Shete Boka National Park and Playa Lagun
The staff from Curacao Actief were excellent-from the detailed directions that were sent beforehand, to the attractive young lady who met us at the pier, to the outstanding, entertaining, informative, energetic, irreverent guide Howard. First Howard pointed out some sights in the developed part of the island and then we went to the rugged, cactus covered areas where we bounced along narrow, hilly, uneven trails to some drop dead beautiful rocky coasts. We saw a blowhole, windmill up close, a WWII bomb target and a rocky cave. After a lunch of bread and salads we drove to Playa Lagun beach and snorkeled with some very friendly turtles. We were supposed to be dropped off at our ship, but Howard very kindly went out of his way to leave some of us at the floating market. We explored that part of the city and then walked over the Emma bridge back to the ship. A fun filled long day!!

De beste tour ooit
National Treasures of Curacao Jeep Tour.

Excellent from booking to drop-off
Four of us just returned from 3 weeks in Curacao (Jan 15 - Feb 5, 2017). In November we booked the East-West Tour in order to see some of the hi-lites of the island. I have booked many excursions over the past few years, but I have never, ever experienced the outstanding professionalism and effective communication than I have had with Bettina in Curacao Actief office. She went way beyond my wildest expectations to ensure every detail was covered - even to the point of sending us a photo of the tour driver (Larry Francis) so there would be no mistakes.
Speaking of Larry, he was equally outstanding. He was waiting at the security gate of Boca Gentil, early in fact, to ensure we were not wondering where he was. Not having visited the island before, we left the sight-seeing in his hands and we were not disappointed. He is extremely knowledgeable of the island and was one of the most entertaining tour drivers we have ever encountered. If we were to return to Curacao again, we would certainly book all our excursions through Curacao Actief. Well done to both of you. You are a "class act".

Great day out and away from the masses
We recently did the Wonderful World of Water tour with the amazing Howard. But before we even got to Curacao, Bettina was a real pro handling everything in the setup. When we got off our cruise, I had no doubts or worries that everything would be perfect and as expected and advertised. We started around the island on dirt roads many of the other tours cant go on. We saw orioles, cara caras, the wind farm, really remote kunukuus, and the desert full of cacti. We stopped at a small cave to see bats and formations--this cafe of the witch is not in the main tourist route and it was great being the only ones there. We went to many amazing bokas, like Asuncion, to see turtles playing the surf and the power of the water. The Suplando Crater blowhole was amazing to watch; the wind and water on the north coast are just gorgeous. We stopped for lunch and a walk to the main Shete Boka lookout, which was about the only place we saw other tourists. After that we went to Fishermen's beach for a swim and snorkel where we saw an amazing variety of sealife and many turtles swimming among us. The fish numbers were not huge, but we saw more than 40 varieties, including quite a few trunkfish right under the pier. As we went further around the island toward town, we stopped to look at the flamingos but didn't get out to look--my only regret of the trip. The whole day though was amazing, just being away from the same old route everyone takes and being alone in so many breathtaking places, from the cave to the Asuncion boka. Howard too good care of us with water and punch, lunch, and warnings when we were about to cross streams or muddy patches. Although we were outside all day, the cover on the back of the land cruiser kept us dry and unburned. He does seem to know everyone and every inch of the island; what a great guide for the wilds of Curacao!

I just want to say that our guide, Howard, absolutely made our week. He was born and raised here and therefore speaks all three major languages, which allows him to cater even more to every visitor. He also seems to be friends with everyone wherever we went on the island! While my family was snorkeling with turtles (just one of the excellent experiences on our tour), I spent time on the beach with Howard just talking about the land and the people. His love for Curacao is infectious, and he genuinely wanted each one of us to have the best time of our stay. If you want to see and appreciate more than just your hotel's beach, this is the best way to do it. We all agreed that it was the highlight of our stay. Thanks, Howard and Actief!

Best tour we have ever taken!
We were pleasantly surprised when we were the only people who booked this tour and Curacao Actief allowed this to be a private tour. Our tour guide Howard was THE BEST guide we have ever had. He provided an expertly detailed tour of the island and although the waves were too small to see one of the scheduled sites, he took us to see sea turtles instead and it was amazing. He is a fantastic person as well as an expert regarding Curacao. We highly recommend this tour for the sites, our guide and the cost. This tour was the highlight of our time in Curacao. Thank you Howard!!!

We never felt rushed and we spent as much time as we liked at any spot. We never felt we were on the clock and the tour was even longer than advertised . This was an amazing day, I would recommend this trip to everyone.

Excellent jeep and snorkel trip
I booked this trip thru Shore Excursions on line. I was on a cruise. My husband ,who is handicap, was able to enjoy as well. The jeep took us tthru a small part of the city roads, but then went to the back roads by the shore. It was bumpy, but were told to expect this. It was not so bumpy and the scenery was interesting. We enjoyed a lunch provided, then proceeded to the snorkel spots. We enjoyed the 2 hours of snorkel time, saw plenty of turtles, and a variety of fish, I would recommend this excursion to others.

We have been on a tour with Curacao aktief before, this was 9 years ago. We had an excellent time back then, our friends still talk about that tour. This year we decided to book a tour again with friends. It was my husband's 50th birthday, and we had a lot of friends visiting that have never been to Curacao before. We had a great experience again with Curacao aktief !! We got to see a side of the island that most tourists never get to see. The tour guides were fantastic and kept us entertained and educated. To our surprise, the Jeeps were decorated for my husband's birthday, and they even suprised him with a cake and a card. How thoughtful, and this absolutely goes above and beyond !!!!! The trip itself was fantastic, our friends really really enjoyed it ! And so did we. I also would like to mention that the communication with Curacao Aktief has always been pleasant, and most importantly very professional. We highly recommend them !!

Top service!

Wonderful World of Water Tour-Emphasis on WONDERFUL
I've said it before, but when you travel with 3 teenage girls, it's a challenge to find something that they're gonna like, and that Mom and Dad are gonna like too! Well, we found such a thing in Curaçao.
I found Curaçao-Actief online and we were intrigued by the Wonderful World of Water tour, a full day excursion that would take us to all points on an island we know absolutely nothing about.
From my first email to Bettina in the office, to the minute Elmer returned us to our hotel, wet and tired, it was a phenomenal experience.
We rode around for about 7 hours in the shaded back of a Toyota Forerunner seeing every site we could possibly imagine from a desert made of coral, to the most beautiful ocean inlets with swimming turtles. We saw caves full of bats and snorkelled at two gorgeous beaches. We swam with sea turtles and with large schools of beautiful fish.
Elmer, our guide, took is on a fantastic four, complete with the island's history, it's politics, its economy and stories of its people. We saw parks and desert terraces, the plains, and the ocean from each side of this beautiful island. We stopped midway for a picnic lunch. We ended the day with a quick tour through Punda, the historic downtown of Willemstad.
We highly recommend this tour and this company to anyone with a day to spend in Curaçao. Thanks Bettina. Thanks Elmer.

AWESOME!!!! Great Tour and Great Company
We went on a Caribbean Cruise and booked this trip through Skymiles. We were apprehensive after a bad experience in our previous port, however, the moment we departed the cruise ship we were pleasantly surprised with the professionalism of this company. We were met with a sign directly off the pier. Henry was our tour guide and he kept us laughing all day with his sound effects and he also had an intensive knowledge of the island. We felt as is we truly got an overview of the island. I particularly was impressed with his treatment of people we encountered during the trip...just a genuinely a good person. The sights were breathtaking and our snorkel stop was impressive with colorful fish and the bluest water I have ever witnessed. He took the time to make the tour personal. Following the trip I inadvertently forgot a pair of shoes on the jeep and they went above and beyond successfully getting them back to me before the ship departed. This is a company that loves what they do, provided tons of information, and are the perfect representatives of Curacao. I would book again and recommend to all.

I contacted Curacao-Actief and almost immediately they responded answering all my questions. I was impressed and we settle for a pick up and return to the airport. They were professional. timely and very friendly, we were the first couple out, our plane landed early but few minutes later saw their representative with our names and quickly we were on our way to the resort. East and West Island Tour with Larry
I was looking forward to this excursion the most and it totally delivered! You get to see the island from one side to the other with some stops at places where you couldn't really get via shuttle or local taxi (unless you rent a car, which we didn't) - you get to learn some history/background about local people and the city, you get to go to see how Curacao Liquor is made and to try it at the local spot, stop at some amazing beaches where you can actually get to swim or simply chill/absorb the beauty, there is a stop for lunch and although at your own expense I highly recommend it as our tour guide Larry took as upon our request to Jan Chi to try Iguana for lunch! :), and some other things you would want to see. A lot of the time you will spend in the car so what we did the next, and I highly recommend you as well to compliment this excursion with your short trip to the city (majority if not all resorts offer a free shuttle round trip) so you can walk around "downtown" and do some close ups :) it's impossible to do the driving and walking together the same day due to such a variety and volume of things to see on the island so I was perfectly fine with this combination we came up with, and honestly if I had turned back time I would still have done this one and go to the city on my own the 2nd day exactly as we did it in the first place => perfect combination
If you get a chance and want to see the islands, city, check out unique stuff on the island this is something for you, and if you can request your driver do go with Larry - amazingly knowledgeable, super friendly and warm person!

Excellent snorkel excursion
Small group led by Howard. He took us to a small beach with fantastic snorkeling right off the beach in shallow, protected water. Beautiful coral and tropical fish. He then took us to a sunken tugboat which was a little bit of a swim from shore. The tug was okay but he then took us a little farther out to a ledge that was fantastic. Stunning fans and tons of fish. Howard is a free diver who swam with us and went out of his way to show us things we would have missed on our own. We ended with a visit to an old fort. Howard is very knowledgeable and entertaining on a vast variety of subjects and clearly wants his clients to have the best time they could possibly have. My wife and I have snorkeled on many islands in the Caribbean and this ranks near the top. If you take this excursion, I urge you to request Howard. You will thank me.

Amazing all day tour of the island
We signed up for this tour on-line and the registration process was simple. All the information was accurate. We signed up for the full day East and West Island tour. Larry, our tour guide, met us just outside the gate where the ship was piered (just below the large high rise bridge) with my name on a sign. It turned out we were the only two who had signed up that day, so we had a private tour! It was absolutely wonderful. We had a 5-6 hour tour of the entire island, with multiple stops. We went all over the island, and Larry (who in addition to the normal points of interest and historical facts also gave us a lot of local information and answered our dozens and dozens of questions about local issues) was one of the most personable guides we have ever had. We went from resorts to the Curacao liquor factory to a great lunch on the north shore and had an hour at a great beach before heading back to town. This was a fabulous day. When compared to everyone else on the ship, it was obvious that we had the best tour of all, and learned and saw the most. Thanks to Larry. It was a day to remember. It was an in-depth chance to learn about the entire island and its history and culture. Fabulous! Incredible value for the money. If you have the time (it was 6-7 hours), do this tour! Not strenuous at all. Air conditioned van. No climbing except at the beach, mild steps there.

One of the islands we visited on our Panama Canal cruise was Curacao. Curacao is one of the 3 best islands in the Caribbean for snorkeling, but it’s also full of beauty. We choose a jeep tour so we could go to all the raw-beautiful spots on the island, and yet feel the rushing breezes and see the vivid colors that abounded. No a/c, tempered glass bus of 40 here – and that was the best part! The Curacao we saw was the wilderness, the isolation, and the feeling that we were someplace where time had stopped. No touristy stuff, just hardcore beauty and sightseeing.
We elected to do The Exclusive Wonderful World of Water Eco Jeep Tour, which had only six people on our trip. Our guide, Howard, made this trip the very best we’ve ever had during a Cruise. He was a riot! His use of his mike, making noises of a police siren to move people walking in the streets off to the side, and other sounds were hilarious. His mimicking of a transmission between an airplane pilot and the control tower, including the sound effect of the air rush after speaking, precluded a sudden high-speed run up a paved, deserted road! What fun. For the off-road, bumpy stretches, Peggy just hugged the back corner and held herself up off the seat a little so the impact wouldn’t be as bad. Still, seeing this, Howard slowed a bit in some rougher areas.
Howard made the trip fun, but his knowledge and excitement for his native country was infectious. He told us he would be showing us his ‘kiddies’ up ahead, and then after debarking, he began calling his kiddies, which were lizards, and fed them bread from his fingers, all the while talking soothingly to them. But Howard also knew his native plants, and medicines from them, and facts about the native wildlife.
On the trip, we drove through the wide-open planes of Hato, a “mini desert,” and then we opened a gate and drove right through a farm! We also saw an Oriole and other exotic birds. With Howard’s continued narrative, we then got to Boka (bay) Ascension, a spiritual kind of place in that it is where the Curacao turtles find their way back, every year, to lay their eggs on the sands. Further up the coast, we stopped at the Shete Boka Park and had lunch and saw our best view of the exotic Caracara bird, and several Iguanas, which are plentiful on the island. Then we saw the Park’s rugged and rocky formations along with huge crashing waves. We bumped and jiggled our way up the coast to the top of Curacao. In the Noordpunt area where we saw more big breakers crash into the coral cliffs, and an incredible blowhole, which is ocean water that spews forth as it enters an under-coast cave that is open on the top.
Finally, we journeyed to the southwest coast of Curacao to visit Playa Lagun, a beautiful beach and cove for some snorkeling. Here, Howard gave some personal help to Dick in how to wear his snorkel mask over his facial hair, so as to get a good, tight seal. His help made all the difference, and we enjoyed the colorful fish, especially schools of small neon-tetra type fish. Snorkel, mask, fins and safety vest were included. Once we finished snorkeling, we were taken back to the cruise pier, laughing all the way from Howard’s wild noises and antics.
This jeep tour may not have been for the faint of heart, but we were willing to adapt for a bumpy ride and were rewarded for it. We were willing to let our inhabitations go and truly ENJOYED every second of it!

this was an excellent tour. The tour started off in the morning and we went off the main road to the Northern side of the island. We saw a lot of the coasts, beaches, and other natural items that we would not have otherwise seen. We also explored other aspects of the island including beaches more frequented by locals, and this provided us with some good ideas for coming back. The guide also provided some good history lessons and information on the island. The guide also had water and lemonade on his truck and this was a nice gesture.
The only note is that the tour description stated passengers should bring beach attire and towels, but the tour involved more hiking and while we visited beaches and cliffs we did not need beach attire.
Overall though a wonderful tour that showed a different side of the island, and one that we would not have seen on our own.

Our guide, Elmer, was a super nice guy, and very informative about the areas in and around Willemstad that we passed on the drive. While I'm not sure it's worth coming all the way from the west side of the island where we stayed and where there is a lot of fantastic DIY snorkeling, if you're staying in the Willemstad area you should definitely consider booking a tour with these guys.

Awesome Day Exploring Curacao
Curacao Actief picked18 of us (9 children from 2 to 14 years old and 9 adults) at the cruise terminal and took us on the Wonderful World of Water tour (also known as the Shete Boka National Park and Playa Lagun Snorkel Adventure in Curacao). Our 3 drivers, Chippy, Elmer and Howard were wonderful, very knowledgeable and entertaining tour guides! They took us along the north coast where we saw natural coral caves, beautiful coves, sea turtles and a wara wara bird. The views are breath taking, although the drive itself is somewhat rough due to the dirt and coral roads. For most of us it was fine, but the older generation in our party were a little sore from the bouncing. We stopped for lunch at the Shete Boka National Park snack stand and had chicken salad, crab salad and egg salad. For a few $$ more you can also try the Iguana stew... We then loaded the jeeps back up and drove to Playa Lugun. Personally, I would have loved more time here! The beach is small, but very clean. The kids had a great time building sand castles and playing in the sandy shallows. The best snorkeling we found was along the left hand cliff bank. The coral colors were absolutely gorgeous. We saw lots of different fish and an octopus! On the way back to our cruise ship, we stopped at a lagoon that was home to a flock of beautiful pink flamingos. Bettina at CA helped get us booked for this tour. They were very accommodating as we arrived in Curacao on a cruise ship and had a very limited amount of time. I highly recommend this tour whether you only have a few hours in Curacao or are staying a while!

Perfect way to see the island, culture and natural landmarks. The only thing I was I would advise to future tour goers is to bring some snacks. The lunch is either chicken, tuna or egg salad. So if you don't like mayonnaise or any of those three options, bring your own food.

Wow..an excursion for only 4 people! Our driver was friendly and knowledgable. He did not rush us to get out of the water. He also protected us from a huge jellyfish! He was in the water with us...that's personable. Good snorkeling locations. No snack provided, and we had to ask for a bottle of water. We would take this again.

Took the Wonderful World of Water Jeep tour and it was amazing. This tour is for people that love the natural side of a destination, out tour guide Elmer was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. We saw a good chunk of the island and it ended with Snorkeling. water/juice and Lunch was included but was VERY disappointing, all that was offered were three types of Salads (Tuna salad, Chicken salad and egg salad) and buns. Not liking creamy salads all my husband and I could eat was a dry bun so were very hungry at the end of the tour. Caution though that this tour is very bumpy and not at all for those with back/neck problems.

Shete Boka National Park and Playa Lagun Snorkel Adventure
This was my most favorite tour out of all in Curacao, because it was so cool to go out into the remote parts of Curacao and see a different side of this beautiful island. I finally got to see turtles in Curacao thanks to this tour, and our guide Howard please forgive me if I mixed up the names was super informative and educational about all aspects of Curacao. He was also super funny, he should do stand up comedy on the side. We also got to snorkel at Playa Lagun, which to me was the perfect way to end the tour. By the way, the lunch provided was super good and very filling, which made the rest of the day even more enjoyable! Thank you to Howard and to the tour company for a great time!!!

Chippy and the Jeep Tour
My husband and I decided to book travels with Curacao Actief for a jeep safari. Our tour guide for the day was Chippy and he really made our adventure awesome. We started with a jeep off road tour along the coast and stopped at some of the bocas on the island.
Chippy Was extremely knowledgeable about the island and explained alot, particularly about the land and the island, while driving along the coast. We stopped a few times along the coast before stopping at Sheta Boca and got a chance to explore and eat lunch. Chippy prepared lunch which included: crossiant rolls with 3 assortment of "salads" to with the sandwich.
After lunch we went to a beach and snorkled for about a hour before heading back to other side of the island.
Chippy waa great and really made the trip fun due to his ability to communicate and connect with us and the other guests. The actual jeep ride was bumpy and slightly uncomfortable BUT it was a jeep tour so it was to be expected !

We had a great trip with a fun guide who had lots to tell. The two of us were in the pick-up with a family of 4 and had enough room for our bags and flippers. We saw several great places like bat caves, boka pistol and a nice beach where we snorkeled in the afternoon.
The provided food was tasty and plentyfull.

Fun and informative island tour
My husband and I had a great time on our full-day island tour and snorkeling excursion. Howard was our guide, and we have nothing but good things to say about him. He was full of fun facts about the island and its history, wildlife, and plants. His slightly off-kilter sense of humor kept us entertained on the driving stretches in between stops, and we were able to go places in the open-air jeep that we definitely couldn't have gone with our rental car, and probably wouldn't have even heard about from our hotel staff. The snorkeling at Playa Lagun was beautiful. It was my first time snorkeling, but my husband is an experienced diver, and we both had a great time seeing some beautiful fish, coral, and even school of small squid! We would highly recommend this tour for anyone looking for an entertaining introduction to the island!

I booked this tour as I wanted to snorkel the Tug Boat. It was me, and 2 other family's, a total of 8 of us. Our guide, Howard, was very friendly, funny and knowledgeable about the fish and the surrounding land. We had some first time snorkelers in the group and he was very patient and checked on everyone multiple times. I highly recommend this tour as it is a must see! The Tug Boat itself is amazing, but being taken to the drop off is awe inspiring in itself. There was a lot of fish to see along with coral and sponges. I'd also like to extend an extra special thanks to Howard for making the tour enjoyable and showing the group some of the flora of the surrounding area and educating us about Curacao.

Recently returned from a short but busy extended weekend vacation in Curacao. My daughters and I really enjoyed this tour although we were the only ones on it but that only meant we had our guide Elmer all to ourselves. The two spots for snorkeling were amazing especially the first beach we visited. The wide and various undersea marine life wsa so beautiful and awe inspiring it makes you want to stay for hours. The sunken tugboat was an adventure in and of itself. We swam out to the wreck on the edge of a great divide, it's something you know you may never have the opportunity to do again. Really quite exciting to behold.

It was very windy but he was a safe driver and made us very comfortable. We explored the coastline and saw the blowhole and other amazing sights. He took the time to explain the history of the land and culture, and even went out of his way to show us the sea turtles, flamingos, plantation houses and remnants of bomb shells from WWII. We also enjoyed the beautiful view at Shete Boka, but unfortunately the caves were closed due to high waves. Elmer provided us with a delicious lunch and got our cruise ship passengers back on time.

Additionally, they waited for us at the airport while we made it through customs and baggage, all with a smile. They ensured our tour for the following day. Elmer, our guide, picked us up promptly at our hotel. He was quite friendly and very knowledgable about the island. He also gave my husband and I plenty of time at each site. My wife and I took this tour on our shore day at Curacao. What we did was ride in the covered bed of a genuine Range Rover all over the island, visiting places and sights in ordinary vehicles could only dream about. Now I know why Range Rovers are so expenseive. Our Guide, Elmer, was very knowledgable of the island and all the natural beauty it has to offer. This was a terrific tour that I would caution the elderly or those with phyiscal limitations to consider looking elsewhere. Very bumpy ride.

Get away to something different.
the Breath of Curacao was a great tour to see some out of the ordinary things that most tours can't take you to. BUT, be aware you are in a 4x4 and crawling over a rocky beach. It will be a little rough and you will probably get a little dirty, but It will be worth it. You will see some blow holes, some caved, places where you can hear and see the air coming up through the ground and, if you take the whole day tour, you will snorkel in a secluded cove for a while.
A great way to see the sights if you are up for an adventure

Great Shore Excursion!
We booked the "Breathe of Cruacao" tour for our port day in Curacao. Elmer was our guide/driver and he was great. It had been raining and the area was very muddy, with standing water so the vehicle had a hard time getting through. He went out of his way to make sure we saw everything we were supposed to on this trip.
This trip is not for the faint of heart or those that don't like to get dirty or sweat. You ride in the open back of a range rover type vehicle with a canvas over the top to protect from sun/rain. It is a very rough ride, after all you are going off roading to see the sights all the other tours miss. We had an awesome time and saw incredible sights we otherwise would not have been able to get to. I highly recommend this tour!

This is a wonderful way to spend the day. There is a little bit of everything: culture, nature, sight- seeing, and beach. We took the Wonderful World of Water tour.
My family and I stopped in Curacao during our recent cruise (July 16). For frame of reference, my wife and I are early 40s, two boys (10 & 7), and my mom (late 60s). Finding our guides for the day was simply and the directions provided to the meeting place were spot on. Howard and Elmer were waiting for us exactly where they said they would be. Like all tours, a big part of why this is susch a great day is Howard and Elmer. Howard is a funny, gregarious guy who is extremely knowledgable about the island. What I liked most about Howard is that you could tell that he loves Curacao and wants to share a little bit of that love with you. As for Elmer, my mom couldn't hike down to one of the caves, so he stayed behind and talked with her in a covered picnic area. This was a very classy move by Elmer, and I really appreciated the attentiveness that both Howard and Elmer showed my mom. As for my boys, they absolutely loved, loved, loved the underground cave that lead out to the ocean. During our last dinner on the cruise ship, both of my boys said that the cave was the best part of their trip! This came as a complete surprise to my wife and me because we went snorkeling, sailing, hit some great beach, etc. And, they liked the underground cave the best! If you are like me and traveling with your parents (who might be 60s), they can definitely do this trip. All in all, this is a fantastic day and I recommend taking a trip with Curacao Actief.

Informative and Fun
A few years now since our carribean cruise. 2009 to be precise. 5 years later and the part of the cruise that I remember the most is the tour of Curacao with Howard from Curacao Actief. The trouble with cruises is that there is not much time, so it was great to be collected and dropped off at the boat. Lunch was provided with cold drinks all day. For me, the highlight was seeing the Allies bombing target on the beach on the east side of the island, along with spent shells still intact nearly 70 years later.

Two great tours with Curacao Actief
Our family was fortunate to visit Curacao in February of 2014. We looked at many tour companies and chose this one based on Trip Advisor reviews and the recommendation of a friend who lives on the island.
We took two tours, both with Larry - what a fun, well-informed guy! We spent a day on the World of Water tour and a half day on the Tugboat tour. Both included some island history and great snorkelling. The jeeps are a little hard on the bum - my creaky bones would have preferred a more comfortable seat - but I knew what I was getting into. Larry managed to captivate my children, aged 14 and 18, and even got them to pay attention to his description of the water cycle! Lunch on the full day tour was basic but filling. There was lots of water and lime water to drink - very useful for North Americans not used to the heat!
These folks are well worth the money. Take your time, look around, ask them questions. The staff are friendly and helpful and will assist you to pick an appropriate tour based on your needs.

Jeep Tour with Howard--Amazing!!!
We went on the Island Jeep Tour with the snorkeling option...It was the best part of our trip! Our tour guide Howard was knowledgeable, funny, interesting, and enthusiastic. The tour itself took us to amazing places we would not have seen otherwise. We began by taking a trip to the east side of the island-Howard knew so much about the terrain and could spot wildlife very easily. It was fantastic to be able to see birds and iguanas in their natural habitat. We then went to the cave and to the boka-both were quite breathtaking. From there we had lunch (provided) and then went to a scenic outlook. The snorkeling that came after was the best. We snorkeled in three different locations while we were there and this spot (Playa Lagun) had the most amazing fish, the most numerous fish, and the clearest, bluest water. Lastly we stopped at the salt ponds to see the flamingos. During the tour Howard pointed out historic landmarks such as where parts of the slave revolution took place and spotted a famous artist while he was working in his yard. All in all, the tour was great but our tour guide Howard made it extremely memorable. 10/10, would recommend.

The ride is not the most comfortable, but what can you expect...it's an island truck. Not bad...just not the most comfy. The supplies were just what we needed. The second stop, which had a sunken tug boat, was much more active and beautiful that the first. Both were nice beaches (but rocky entrances). The sunken tugboat was pretty cool, too! Fun Snorkeling Trip with Curacao Actief!
My wife and I pre-booked an excursion with Curacao Actief (reef and tugboat snorkel) for our cruise stop. We were promptly greeted by Larry, who would be our guide for the afternoon. Larry was a blast - friendly, funny and informative.... we really enjoyed our time with him! It turned out to be just my wife and myself on the tour, which was a nice surprise. It really blows my mind to see a ship of over 3,000 passengers arrive into port and go out on cattle call snorkeling trips when you can have a much more pleasant experience with a private operator!!! Anyway, we went to two snorkeling destinations that were maybe 15-20 minutes from the port. During the drive there, Larry gave us some information about Willemstad and the island. The first snorkel destination was decent, but we really enjoyed the sunken tugboat portion. Since there was just the two of us, we had all the time we needed to explore both areas. After snorkeling, Larry gave us a delicious local treat that was some type of bread pudding with coconut. He gave us time to climb to the top of a nearby fort and see the sunset (our ship was in port from 2 PM to 11 PM). We asked that he drop us off downtown, and he had no problem accommodating this request. If you are on a cruise or going to be taking a land vacation in Curacao, be sure to book with Curacao Actief!

The poor souls on the cattle call
Our trip started out right off the pier and to watch those that had reserved file into a packed bus started this tour out the perfect way. There's seating for 8 in these trucks but with 8 you'll be packed like sardines when jostled around on the trails. We had 4 which was perfect. Every other vehicle when seen was packed. We tour the whole island and seen some magnificent shoreline. We stopped at had a nice lunch plus a quick dip for some snorkeling. This was a perfectly balanced tour with the right amount of everything and not too much of anything. Thanks again.

Exciting mini-tour/snorkling trip of Curacao!
We only had one day on the island (changing between flights) and decided that we wanted to see the Tugboat (Tugboat and Reef Tour). There was not many companys offering the trip on a Monday as they operate around the Cruise ship schedules. When we had first gotten in contact with them, it looked unlikely as they required a minimal of four people but would keep our hotel contact details and let us know if anything changed (as we only had the one day). We were easily able to stay in contact with the company and in the end they were able to find two others to complete the trip last minute. We were so excited!!
The snorkling was definitely one our our highlights on our 5 month trip. We visited 2 areas for snorkling- the first was a little beach that allowed us to get used to the equipment and using the masks, and the second beach was were we saw more coral and further down, the Tugboat. The gear was in amazing condition and we never had problems with it. The driver spoke english (a friendly Dutch lady) and our diver was a local gentlemen who had been snorkling/diving for a long time!! He was able to go down much deeper then us and show us different fish and coral. It was amazing how much fish we saw!! We didn't think that would be the case so close to shore!
The company provided lemonade and water, and some home-cooked cake. On the way to the first site, we were able to stop to get some breakfast (we hadn't eaten yet) and juice. I would definitely suggest getting an early breakfast, or bringing some snacks- we found we were a bit hungry by the end of all the swimming!
After the snorkling, they took us to some historical sites. Although it was nice to learn alittle about the history of the island, we would of preferred longer snorkling time. We could of spent a bit longer in the water!!
All in all, we are super glad we went though-- it was money well spent!

Breath of Curacao tour with Curacao Actief
We took a tour of Curacao arranged by Curacao Active. It was an open air bus/jeep and was only our party of 7. We were able to visit bat caves, see iguanas up close, see the coast and take photos of amazing blow holes, and even were able to see wild flamingos at the salt flats. This was one of the best tours I have ever experienced, and the highlight (other than the flamingos) was our tour guide Larry. He was so interesting, personable and funny! He kept my teenagers entertained with rap songs he had written about the tour. They loved it and were singing along the whole trip! Great memories of Curacau thanks to Larry and Curacao Actief!

Excellent tour of Curacao
We took a private tour of Curacao arranged by Curacao Actief. Our tour was a guide, Larry, in a minivan. It was a 6 hour tour of most of the sights on Curacao. We visited Punda, Otrabanda, floating market, Fort Nassau, the Liquor factory, Salt Lake, Shete Boka National park with Boka Pistol, Boka Tabla, several beaches, and other sights around the island. He also provided a nice sandwich lunch. Larry gave a good description of all the sights on the island and he provided a very enjoyable tour. This company is very professional in following up to be sure everything went as expected on the tour. Highly recommended.

Tugboat and Reef Snorkel Tour
We did the Tugboat and Reef Snorkel Tour and had a great time. There was only one other person besides my husband and I so we felt like we had a private tour. The other person had not snorkel before and my husband and I have done so many times. The guide was very good about teaching the other person, while also showing us where to go to see the best fish and the boat. The guide brought along plenty of water and lemonade (which is good to get the salt water taste out of your mouth!) and some snacks. The only thing that would have been better is if we had chosen a longer tour, we had such a good time we did not want it to end.

Family snorkel adventure
We arrived in Curaçao on the Carnival Breeze mid afternoon with our 10 and 7 year old daughters - we booked this private excision with other members of our family with the hope of an excursion tailored to our interests that allowed us to make the most of the time on the island. We were delighted with our choice!
All of our pre-trip arrangements were made through Jeffrey and our tour guide was Larry with help from Howard who lead another private family tour at the same locations we visited. The pre-trip arrangements were easy to make - emails were quickly answered and we were provided with plenty of information.
Our snorkel trip was fantastic - Larry was good fun and all of the logistics went smoothly. The two sites we snorkelled at were great and there was plenty to see.
We felt like we got excellent value for our money and terrific customer service. If you're a cruise passenger I highly recommend booking this private excursion instead of paying for an over-priced and large scale Carnival excursion.

Breath of Curacao
This was a great excursion, very bumpy ride but a lot of fun. We were a group of 19 people and took up 3 jeeps, the guys running the excursion (They laughingly called themselves Larry, curly and Moe) were hilarious and a lot of fun. Even the driver of the jeep full of teenagers made share the kids were enjoying themselves and had pop music blaring for them. WE saw all the highlights of the island and the group was not only funny, but also informative and their banter and interaction together made this excursion incredibly fun and interactive.

GREAT private snorkeling excursion - Definitely the way to get the most out of a limited day on shore.
A few years ago, we were in Curacao on a cruise stop and booked a snorkel excursion with Curacao Actief. There were probably about 8 of us that day. We had a very good experience. About two weeks ago, we were once again in Curacao on another cruise stop. We only cruise to go to different places to snorkel and I knew that I would once again book with Curacao Actief. However, this time around, I decided to treat myself and book a private snorkel for just my husband and myself. I usually have a terrible or mediocre time on ship snorkel excursions and I get so tired of being kicked in the face, etc.
The day we arrived in Curacao it was unusually windy and seas were pretty rough. I was concerned but hopeful. Henry, our driver and tour guide, was right at the port waiting for us. We hopped into the open air back of the truck and Henry sat down and talked about what we wanted to do. I had originally planned a five hour day with possibly two morning snorkels, lunch, and then one more afternoon snorkel. He had several suggestions. My husband expressed concern about the possible rough conditions. Henry had it covered - he knew exactly where to take us and the drive wasn't more than 20 minutes or so from the port. The first stop was a calm bay with great snorkeling just a very short swim from shore. The second stop was on the other side of the tugboat area and we were a little concerned about the current and seas. He assured us that we would be fine and indeed we drifted right around the point with little effort. We would have stayed in much longer, but I was having trouble with my mask for some reason. Anyway, Henry watched us until we went around the point and then he drove to the other side to meet us. I was so glad we took his advice because the water clarity was wonderful and the reef and sealife amazing. And, there was Henry standing right along the water waiting for us.
At that point, we decided to forget about taking the time for lunch and just do another snorkel and call it a day. My husband didn't want to get back in so Henry put on his wetsuit and came in with me. After that snorkel, we asked to be taken to a small souvenir shop on the way back to the ship. I am glad that I made the decision to just go by ourselves - I couldn't have asked for a better tour guide/snorkel buddy :)

Wonderful World of Water...Absolutely Wonderful!
We were fortunate to have lucked upon the dedicated and friendly Actief representative Corrie (through our CheapCarribean.com booking for the Sunscape Resort) who told us about the various offerings of the company and really took care of us not only in making sure we found the right tour for us, but literally coming to pick us up when we missed the pickup at our resort (oops!) and delivering us to the tour departure port. Thanks, Corrie, for saving our vacation, hope you see this! You rock!
We ended up on the "Wonderful World of Water" Actief tour with the incredibly kind and knowledgeable Howard. Over the course of the day (9am-4pm) we saw sea turtles, lizards, turtles, iguanas, goats, sheep, quite a few native birds (land tour) and about a dozen species of fish (snorkeling). That was just the animal life. We also saw medicinal and poisonous plants, cacti everywhere, and a ton of slave/resistance monuments and plantation homes, all of which Howard was quick to point out or answer to our questions. And oh yeah...the most amazing natural coral stone/coastal formations, the inside of a water formed cave, turquoise waters and blow holes like you would never believe. I had never seen a blow hole, so it was just magical watching the water fly and listening to the waves crash. If I recall correctly, we started around Hato and then went off road up to the Shete National Park area....Boca Ascension, Boca Table, Boca Piston, and then went round to Playa Knip lookout and finally snorkeling at Playa Lagun.
The tour was conducted from an off-road mic-equipped 8-seater Jeep vehicle so we could go all of these places and really feel the hot arid air and cool rushing breezes and see the vivid colors of Curacao -- no a/c tempered glass bus here -- and that was the best part!!! There were bumpy stretches and highspeed runs and tight curves and Howard's excitement for showing off his country (he is native born) was contagious. He even provided some local snacks (a tasty cake in the am and peanut(?) cookies in the pm) in addition to sandwiches for lunch. This tour was conducted by Howard (in English) with lots of heart, but is not for the faint of heart or those not willing to let inhibitions go for the day in order to truly ENJOY, as we did. We only wish we could have afforded to tip bigger to show our sincere appreciation; the tour was one of the highlights of our time on Curacao. Thanks, Howard! You deserve the best and I hope you see this, and we will try to stay in touch!

Great day seeing natural Curacao
We had a great day on the Natural Treasures tour with our guide Larry, who clearly loves his job and it made for a great day. He had a full tour with 8 people and we all got along great with Larry breaking the ice and making everyone feel comfortable.
A lot of this tour is off-road so bumpy but fun. The blow-hole experience is wonderful fun. We loved the final swim at a quiet beach, although snorkeling is much better one beach over from the one the tour takes you to.
The only thing that would have made the tour better is more time in Christoffel Park with a chance to get out and look around a bit.
Highly recommend this tour operator.

Great Snorkeling - Tugboat and Reef!
I booked a snorkeling tour with Curacao-actief through cruise.com. Our cruise, Norwegian, didn't offer a snorkeling tour at Curacao, and I really enjoy seeing colorful fish and coral. We had Larry as guide, a jovial, enjoyable guide - both driver and snorkeling guide.
The number of people was small -- just one other person from our cruise plus a couple of older (mid-to-late 70's) ladies. The ladies just wanted to see fish and didn't want to swim at all - just be in water where they could touch bottom. The other person from the cruise and I (70-yrs-old), however, wanted to get as much of the snorkeling as we could.
First of all, I was surprised that we didn't board a boat. We just drove to a beach.. As it turns out, the reef was just 50-75 yards from shore. And it had some of the prettiest coral and fish that I've seen in several years of snorkeling in the Caribbean. Since there were two of us swimming, we kept tabs with each other while Larry took care of the ladies. We were able to swim out to where the bottom dropped off and see the dark, dark deep. After about 45 minutes of snorkeling, we swam back to shore.
We then drove a little farther and came to another beach where the sunken tugboat lay again just 50-75 yards from shore. After about 45 minutes or so, we came back to shore - a little tired. We actually had more time if we had wanted, but my underwater camera had quit, so I decided it was time to come in.
Larry then treated us to some snacks to bolster our energy for the return trip. As we were chatting on the way back, it was clear that the young woman I was snorkeling with and the two older ladies also had a wonderful time.
Larry was great, the snorkeling was superb, and the price was right. What else could you ask for?
When I'm back in Curacao for another cruise, you can bet that I'll look up this tour again!

Lovely Tour - Breath of Curacao
This tour was very informative about the island's history and we loved seeing the blow holes and hearing the "breath of Curacao". This is a long and bumpy ride, so beware. We saw one of the most beautiful beaches - it rivaled St. John's Trunk Bay! We did not get to swim there as it was 40 minutes away from town and we would have not way to get back as taxi's don't usually run out there. All in all, very interesting and some beautiful picture sites!

Great way to explore Curacao!
My boyfriend and I had a wonderful experience on the Wonderful World of Water Tour. Be prepared for a bumpy windy ride, however we truly enjoyed the excursion. Howard was an entertaining and informative guide who made the experience fun and energetic. We explored caves, saw some great blow holes, watched turtles feeding, had a wonderful picnic lunch and did some great snorkeling. Important note: would not recommend for older adults (based on the experience of some of the others on our excursion and I know for my parents who are in there mid 60's the wind would have bothered my mother's ears and my dad would not have been thrilled with the bumpy ride). We however had an amazing time and would recommend for anyone looking for an adventure off the beaten path in Curacao!

Great experience of the Curacao off the beaten path
We spent today with Howard and three other guests of the Curacao Actief tour named "Wonderful World of Water" hosted by the one and only Howard. We were very impressed with his knowledge and hospitality. We are a couple who likes to take tours of islands/cities when on vacation to get a sense of the entire area which we would otherwise not see. We were fortunate to read the reviews here on trip advisor and book a one day island tour. Howard is a very likeable and friendly host. It was easy to spend time with him as our driver and guide. We explored the Curacao outside of the city and the resorts and into the mostly uninhabited remainder of the island. The trip is taken in a jeep and is quite bumpy at times, but this is to be expected on an "off the road" tour and there were enough stops along the way to rest from the bumpiness. We saw several incredible "bocas", a cave with stalactites and stalagmites as well as bats, incredible views of the turquoise water/beaches, sea turtles, pelicans and wonderful snorkeling, salamander feeding, among other adventures. Howard has to be commended also for being very kind to one fellow on our tour who had a physical limitation; Howard went beyond being a great guide and showed himself to be a kind human being with his patience today. Overall, yes, you should see all of Curacao that Actief has to offer, and do ask for Howard. He is a gem of a rare kind.

He really made sure we all had a good time. Before going to Curacao, I researched the best tour options. Wenn Curacao, dann "One World of Water" mit Curacao Actief

We took three Curacao-Actief tours: Tugboat and Reef, Wonderful world of water, and Natural Treasures. We loved the rugged north coast with its wild water. We also enjoyed the reef snorkeling on protected beaches. Larry was an excellent guide who knew much about the island and the culture of Curacao. He provided a good local cake for snack and a nice lunch on the full day tours. The full day Wonderful World of Water tour and Natural Treasure tour overlap a lot for the morning half visiting the north coast and cave but the afternoon is different. We had a great time with Larry and would highly recommend the company. We would have loved a half day bike tour of Willemstad as there are no English walking tours and biking would be a fun way to tour the city. Great Excursion off the beaten path
We planned an excursion before our departure to Curacao and booked through Curacao Actief for their Indian Trail tour. Making the arrangements beforehand was easy and Larry met us on time at our hotel. We chose this adventure because we would get to see parts of the island that are not your typical places to visit. It was an off road adventure and perfect for us, since we were not interested in doing one of the ATV tours.
Larry is a pleasant and excellent guide. He was even willing to stop and let us take pictures when we wanted to. We got to see some areas on the East end that can only be reached with an off road vehicle. He explained some of the history of the area.
I would highly recommend this half day trip for anyone that wants to see other parts of the island but does not want to drive their own ATV. We considered this a great compliment to the standard and more touristy East West tour.

There were 6 of us on the trip , 2 Dutch women , a young couple from New York and us(a couple in our 60's). Howard took care of all of us and did the tour in both Dutch and English. He knows his stuff, knows his island and his love of his job and the island shines through. He was full of information from medicinal trees, to little stories about the local people and customs. He took us out all day to several different beaches and natural formations, the Voodoo cave where the bats are protected and the stalactites make great music, to a bay where the turtles feed, to the underground cave that is partially submerged and the waves crash through...awesome. He gave us a rundown on how the island was formed and hand fed a couple dozen lizards who swarmed him the moment he stepped out of the jeep. He showed us the works of a local recycling artist scattered all over the island and pointed out birds and other animals. When we snorkled at the end of the tour he even gave us the best way to go around the cove to see the maximum sealife. Is there anything he doesn't know about the island ? He was funny, charming and very informative. We would recommend this tour with this company and hopefully you will be lucky enough to get Howard as your guide.

The tour was great! Thanks, Howard!
My husband and I recently spent a week in Curacao (our first ever visit) and we wanted to learn about the island and discover its natural beauty, so we booked the full-day World of Water Tour. Howard was our guide. As a Curacao native, he is very knowledgeable about the island. We learned a lot and had a blast in the process—Howard is an absolute riot! We enjoyed having him as our guide and appreciated all of his wild sound effects. He also unleashed the secret to a long, healthy life, telling us about the wonderful healing properties of the Moringa tree and Calabasa fruit. If that's not enough, I got to hold an iguana (not part of the tour, just a man with a pet iguana, in the national park, collecting tips). Pretty cool!
My husband, who had major back surgery many years ago and still suffers from occasional back-related issues, was concerned that riding in the back of the truck, "off-roading in the desert" would be too rough on his back, but we told Howard about our concern and it wasn't a problem, at all, thankfully.
Overall, I strongly recommend this tour. We got to see many natural attractions, including Kueba Di Brua (Cave of Voodoo, complete with bats and Howard playing the stalactites as musical instruments to summon his deceased grandparents), saw sea turtles at Boca Ascension, while standing dangerously close to the cliff's edge (but that was only my opinion--I stood back from the others!), Boca Tabla (an incredible sea cave), Boca Shete (a sea inlet that shoots water out, pistol style), and snorkeling at Playa Lagun. It was the most fun day of our week in Curacao and we hope to return again soon!

My husband and I went on the world of water tour with Howard. There was such a variety on this tour. We got to see bats and hermit crabs in the caves, local art, beautiful beaches, turtles, flamingos, boca pistol which is like a blow hole for the ocean water, and also had a little bit of time to snorkel at the end of the tour. Howard was very knowledgeable as well as entertaining. We were only in Curacao for what day and get like we were able to see a lot in the short time that we were there. I think the tour lasted around 7 hours or so, but felt like it was over before I knew it even though we did get to see a lot. I would recommend this tour to anyone going to Curacao. If you have the time its totally worth it. It was one of the best excursions we went on while we were on our cruise.

Curacao Actief! WOW a Great Time!
We did two Curacao-Actief tours while on the island. Both were incredibly well executed and FUN! We first did the treasures of Curacao tour - talk about off the beaten path! Our tour guide Elmer did an amazing job of bringing us to the most breath-taking places.....that we simply would have never got to enjoy - the finer side of Curacao!
OK so that being said. By far and away - the most amazing experience I've ever had on ANY vacation - was with Howard on the Snorkel Tour. My wife and I ended up being the only couple to book for the day we booked the trip, and rather than cancelling the tour, Actief sent Howard to the rescue for our own personal adventure. I've got to tell you - this guy made our vacation so worth while. He was accommodating to my wife's fears, and even went above and beyond with me (LOVING diving/snorkeling as I do) to ensure I had the experience of a life time. Go snorkel around the sunken ship and over the drop off - its absolutely amazing! I will go back to Curacao JUST to snorkel/dive with Howard again - thanks for being so accommodating Actief we loved it!

Really See the Island
My wife and I have taken two tours with Curacao Actief and will be taking a third in April 2014. yes, they re that good. 1. There is lots to see off-the beaten track, and Curacao Actief has access to many places the standard tour buses do not; 2) each of the guides is knowledgeable, accommodating, and entertaining. We always ask for Howard, but I see other reviews that praise the other guides just as highly; 3) you can "build" your own tour. Your guide will probably ask you what you want to see. If you don't know, he/she will make suggestions.
We've always been in very small groups. On full-day tours we share a lovely linch brought by the guide. Once we ate on a rock outside a gorgeous cave.
The north side of the island is spectacular. The high winds coming in from the north and the high, rocky cliffs along the shore make for some tremendous water works. The island is made from ancient lava and is hollow under neath in many places, so there are many spots where the waves crash under the rock and spray up through holes in the surface. One is large enough to sit in and have a memorable experience getting soaked and watching the water swirl back down the hole. Other places you can "hear the island breathing" when the water pushed the air up though the surface. Caves, sea turtles, flamingos, forts. With all this to be seen, why sit on a big, smelly bus and go to the Iguana Restaurant?
The full day tours are around $100 a person. Don't miss it!

Great tours at a reasonable price!
We did two Curacao-Actief tours, and they were both exciting and well-executed. For the snorkel tour, we were given decent equipment and a thorough explanation and help for beginning snorkelers. We really liked the two sites we were taken to. Both had beautiful underwater scenery without requiring that we get too far from land or swim too far from the entry point.
Then we did a private tour that was basically a half day version of the World of Water tour. We got to see a lot of the full day tour sites, and had a lot of input into where we went and what we saw. Through the two tours, we got to see aspects of the island that we never would have found on our own, like one of the forts guarding the harbor, the desert, the wind farm, caves, various beaches, and the tugboat snorkel site. We really felt like we had a more complete vision of what Curacao is like.
Howard was our guide both times, and he was delightfully funny, capable, and knowledgeable. His is a Curacao native, but his English is excellent. We recommend him if you schedule a tour!

I contacted them ahead of time to arrange for a private tour and it really paid off. The company was very professional, always replied promptly, were helpful in recommending important sites and extremely friendly (especially Bettina). Our tour guide, Leo, was fantastic - very knowledgeable - was able suggest and show us the unique aspects of the island. We had a fantastic time and were able to see a lot in the time there. Leuke dag gehad

Bedankt!

Smiddags eenvoudige picknick,... Onze chauffeur/gifs was Michael, leuke ketel.

Take the tour...and ask for Sander!
Our group of 3 took this tour on our last full day in Curacao. (I might recommend taking it earlier in your stay.) We almost cancelled our reservation since we'd spent the entire previous day out sailing and taking this tour meant we had to be ready for pick-up at 8 a.m. We are SO glad we didn't change our minds! Sander picked us up right on time and we knew we'd like him from the start! (We didn't change our minds about THAT, either!) We were the only guests, so we ended up having a "private tour." We learned a ton and Sander knew the answers to all of our questions. We enjoyed the rugged northern coast and hearing about the "crazy surfers," had a wonderful visit to Shete Boka National Park, and enjoyed calm snorkeling and Playa Lagun. This was a great way to see and learn about the island (and kept us from having to rent a car)! Danki, Sander! We had a great time...and would do it again!!

My wife and I joined two other couples for an adventure tour of the north and west coast. We were picked up at our hotel at 8:45 in a customized truck, paid, signed release forms, and headed out. Sanders was an enthusiastic guide for this "World of Water" tour (interesting name). He explained the flora, fauna and geography of Curaçao and took us to rugged shorelines, bat-filled caves and beautiful overlooks. What a treat!
We recently took a chance with Curacao Actief when on a cruise that had a one-day stop in Curacao. It was an incredible experience! We were picked up at the pier by our guide in a jeep that seats 8, but it was just the 2 of us. We had only booked a 1/2 day snorkle trip, but our guide treated us to a number of visits and clearly spent more than the allotted time with us. He first put us in the water at a beach that didn't look like it would have much to see. We were mistaken, however, as we spent quite a bit of time viewing the fish and coral there. Then we snorkeled the tugboat wreck. When we arrived, there were 2 groups already there, so our guide just took us right by them and further down the coast where the groups were not allowed to go. We saw an incredible amount of healthy coral and a ton of fish. As we meandered our way back, the other groups had moved on, so it was just perfect. This is a far superior experience than you will ever get with the big groups run by the cruise lines. You won't regret it!

We visited Curacao on the Carnival Valor. After doing alot of research and on advise of the people on this site, we contacted this company. The response was quick and informative. We were not arriving at the usual tour times--scheduled arrival at 4pm but, they offered to accomodate our schedule. They asked about us--we were travelling with 3 pre teens-- and suggested 2 different tours. We chose to take the Breath of Curacao Eco Jeep Tour. Booking the tour was easy and efficient and all our questions were answered promptly. They e-mailed to confirm just prior to our arrival. Our ship arrived in port an hour early and we were excited to find the tour driver waiting for us at the earlier time as we had been concerned about having enough time to tour before sunset.
Let me say, up front, that this tour is NOT for the faint of heart!! We were in the back of a jeep--our family of 5 and a couple from Belgium. Only 2 of the seatbelts worked and the couple, who were picked up before us, had taken those. The jeep drove quite fast through the winding streets but, we had fun. The driver was pleasant and professional and stopped several times to point out sights, stop at scenic spots, a beautiful beach and a local artist's. The promised "snacks" consisted only of some lemonade or water but it was cold and refreshing. When we went off road in the park, it got really bumpy The Boca Pistol was nice to visit.
All in all, would recommend this tour for anyone of good back health--no young kids or people with difficulty climbing in and out of a Jeep. We visited in Feb. so, off road was just dusty but, we were warned that, during the rainy season, it can be quite muddy.

Awesome off-road adventure! The highlight of our trip!
We booked the all day Safari and Snorkeling tour, and were picked up in an open air Land Rover "jeep" that seats 8 people. There were 4 of us in our group (2 adults and 2 teenagers), but we lucked out and had the jeep all to ourselves. Elmer was our guide and he was fantastic! We learned about the history of the island, and got to see the raw beauty of the island the way you only can with an off-road vehicle. What an amazing experience!
We started out driving to Otrobanda and stopping at the harbor where Elmer very eloquently told us about the history of the island, as well as some interesting facts. Did you know that St Anna Bay, the harbor, is the 7th deepest natural harbor in the world?
Anyway, next we headed North towards the airport, then headed West along the very rugged and beautiful North coast. We went to a Voodoo Cave (Kueba Di Brua) where escaped slaves used to hide out. You can still see black soot from their fires in some of the cave's chambers, and of course there are stalagmites, stalagtites, and bats.
The terrain is very rugged, so if you have a bad back, or don't like off-roading and getting dirty, this is definitely not the excursion for you. Also, this is not a good excursion for young children, but great for teenagers. We loved every minute of it! Our adventure continued with a few more scenic stops, and finally we stopped at Shete Boca where we also had lunch and a restroom break. Lunch and snacks throughout the day were included in the price of our excursion.
After lunch we headed West towards the beaches for some snorkeling. All snorkeling gear was included in the price as well. The weather turned on us in the afternoon, and it started raining, so we decided to skip the snorkeling. Overal, we had a very full and exciting day, and an experience we will remember forever. I HIGHLY recommend the Safari tour! Be sure to ask for Elmer.

BON VOYAGE !!!

Actief -- and Howard -- bring life to Curacao
We have booked twice with Actief and really have enjoyed our excursions. Both times we booked, we were stopping as part of a cruise. The first time, we were matched with guide Howard as a happy accident; the second time we requested him.
Howard is a riot -- funny and knowledgeable -- and he is the best snorkel guide we've ever had. He picked us up at the cruise port on time in an open-air truck. After a brief island tour (we'd done it before, but our traveling companions had not), we visited a beach, where we could snorkel to a reef from shore. The snorkeling is surprisingly fantastic. Howard took us into the water and pointed out things we easily would have missed otherwise -- starfish, scorpionfish and various sea worms. Howard let us stay as long as we wiBas shed before we headed to a second snorkel stop -- the tugboat. The tugboat was busy with other tourists, who came in via boat. We swam in from land. Because it was busy, Howard took us past the boat so we could see a deep water reef. When it cleared, we went back to the tugboat, which was fabulous.
After snorkeling, we toured the island more, stopping at a fort before heading back to the cruise ship. Next time we're in Curacao, we'll book again with Howard and Actief.

We had the best time & Howard did a fabulous job. My wife loves that kind of stuff & I think it may have been the hilight of our 2 week cruise. We went were very few tourists would go. The wildness, the isolation & feeling like you were somewhere where time stopped. No touristy stuff, just hardcore beauty & sightseeing. It truly was the wonderful world of water. From seeing the junk art of your famous sculpture, to the voodoo cave, to the water caves & the blowhole & park were awesome & fascinating. Howard made a picnic lunch that at first we said tuna fish, but wow, I think either us or the other couple were fighting over who got to lick the last drop. He also had chicken salad & the BEST bread we have tasted to make a great picnic lunch. BUT after all the sightseeing we had wanted to go snorkeling. Well we went snorkeling to this little bay for over an hour that had tons of fish & turtles. We have snorkeled all over the caribbean & this may have been the best one. In closing, the best part was the knowledge of the island Howard provided, he answered all our questions & he NEVER rushed us. It was probably the most intense day for sightseeing we have ever done in our 18 plus cruises. You run a first class operation & any people we know who are going to Curacao, we are sending your way.
Thanks for everything.

My sister Lauren and I had a fantastic time! The representative at the Hyatt Regency was very knowledgeable and took the time to explain all the different packages, and answered many of our questions about Curacao.
Additionally, our tour guide Xander was phenomenal, we cannot say enough good things about him! His knowledge, passion and pride in his home island are apparent and made the tour extra special; he took the time to explain the history of the island, always stopped for us to take many photographs of the wildlife that we saw, and happily answered any questions that we had.
He is a wonderful tour guide, and I would highly recommend him to anyone!
Thank you again for your fantastic team!

Eco & Island tour where great!
I booked 2 tours with curacao actief. Eco tour and a full day island tour. I must say I'd a great time. Saw all the tings I wanted to see. With both trips we had very nice and good guides. Provide you with good information.
A negative thing on the island tour was that we didn't went out of the car in willemstad. We just drove trough it. The eco tour was very good, nothing negative to say about that.
I can recommend this organization to book tours and see curacao as it really is.
Lunch was very good as well.

On Wednesday, 24 February 2010, my wife and I took your snorkeling tour of the sunken tugboat. Our tour guide was a gentleman whose name I believe was 'Francel'. My wife and I found his presentation of the history of island of Curacao to be most informative. His knowledge of the island and his charismatic presentation was certainly reflective of his pride in being a native son of Curacao. He was a most adept guide on the snorkel tour as well, watching out for us each and every step of the way.
We enjoyed our vacation on Curacao very much and Mr 'Francel' made our stay more more enjoyable. We hope to return one day and take additional tours. Hopefully Mr Francel will still be working for your company.
Please extend our thanks and appreciation to him for a very memorable day.

We had a FABULOUS tour in Curacao! Sanders was an excellent tour guide. He taught us so much about your beautiful island and he really wanted to make sure that we all had a great time. It was a great adventure and we appreciated Sander's concern for our safety. He was wonderful with my mom (who was a bit nervous riding in the back of the safari vehicle) . He let her ride up front with him and made her feel very welcome. We enjoyed the day so much that we all want to return to Curacao!!! We will recommend your company and we hope to take another tour with Curacao Actief someday.

Thanks for the great time we had this december, when we went on your fabulous eco jeep tour. We saw awesome landscapes on locations you wouldn't be without a guide. Speaking of: our guides (Sander and Howard) had a lot of knowledge about geologics and flora and fauna. Their pleasure to show us around made us very happy and enthousiastic! Even if we were muddy and soaking wet! Thanks guys for making our tour unforgettable!! Hope you like the pictures. When we return to Curacao we will for sure make another trip and we do tell everybody about ExploreCuracao! Thanks Micheal for arranging our trips so well and for being so friendly! Just a note to tell you how wonderful our snorkeling tour was while we were in Curacao. Your specific instructions made it a stress free connection in the morning. Just tonight I opened a little bag of sweets that were given to us by our guide, Kim. You should know that she was a wonderful guide. She was pleasant, caring and efficient. Needless to say she was knowledgeable. We really appreciated her and the tour.

Just a quick note to let you know how much we enjoyed our snorkeling tour with Kim. She is the greatest! We were her only guests and she treated us just like family, so caring and helpful. Our first snorkeling spot was just like swimming in an aquarium, the water and fish were so beautiful. The tugboat snorkel was great. I wanted to swim out over the wall but was a little apprehensive, Kim told me she would stay by my side and I'm happy to say I did it - it was awesome!!! We will definately recommend Curacao-Actief to our friends and will have fond memories of our day in Curacao on your tour with Kim.

I was in Curacao with one of my good friends. We went on the Wonders of Water Tour with Kim on Oct 3, 2009. It was absolutely wonderful. She has so much enthusiasm and love for Curacao.
She made our tour very special. She provided us with genuine snacks and treats from Curacao. She was informative and provided a true understanding of Curacao. There were only two of us but that did not deter her from doing an extraordinary job. t was great to see that your staff has a true passion for their work.
Kudos to you!!!

We will always remember Kim as our friendly, charming and helpful guide in Curaçao who took us both to a real highlight of a Caribbean coral reef. We had to swim, walk and snorkel quite a lot to get to this site, but it was worth the trouble.
A fairytale of healthy coral growth opened up below our snorkeling masks, and the edge of the reef was a real ‘wood’ of sea plumes and sea fans. Snorkeling the tugboat after the fairytale was a lot easier. It was Kim who had wisely planned the exhausting adventure first, the easy part second.
And we were also very glad about the jeep tour – allowing us to discover the rough north coast of Curaçao. This tour was our first one with Curaçao Actief and Kim. Just have a look at our jeep in the middle of a semi-arid nowhere: Wow! We are so happy about Kim and Curaçao Actief. Without you and especially Kim a lot of our Curaçao experiences and insights wouldn’t have been possible. And there’s a high probability that we will come back for another Curaçao holiday in the next years to see you again.

I almost never send feedback, but I feel that we really got something special from your tour. It was like having a friend introduce us to the island, complete with a special drink and snack. Even my 4 year old enjoyed it. Kim was even helpful to us in getting her through some rocky spots in the cave, to make her feel safe. Also because of the rain Kim wasn't able to take us to one of the caves, but instead of just saying, oh well, tough luck, she took us to some extra places like the flamingo preserve and a quick tour of downtown. It was definitely a highlight of our vacation. Thanks again for everything.

As I was on a business trip to Curacao and only had 1 free day, I got in touch with Explore Curacao at the Avila hotel,Willemstad where I was staying. I wanted to go on a snorkeling trip somewhere on the island, and wanted it NOW. Usually you need to book a day in advance, but with no problems at all, they made some phone calls and managed to get me a guide for half the day and we were ready to go within the next hour.. We ended up going to Caracas bay and Directors Bay, all close to the Spanish bay, where we snorkeled the famous Tugboat wreck.
So a big thank you to Marie at reception and Sander, my guide. Consider yourself lucky should you get Sander – this guy knows his thing. Anyways, just wanted to say thanks again for a great day and excellent snorkeling.

I just had to write to say what a wonderful tour we had with Howard when visiting Curacao on January 7th. He was a wonderful guide, and gave us a lot of flexibility with how we wanted to spend our day. He was so knowledgeable about the island, nature and ecosystems of Curacao, as well as the history and culture. Plus he's a really nice guy and made us feel right at home. I gave the tour, Howard and your company a positive write-up on Cruise Critic.com and will recommend you to anyone planning a trip to Curacao!

I just wanted to write you, now that my family is home, to let you know about our tour with your company on March 19.
We are a family of four, with two boys age 20 and 12. We cruised with Royal Caribbean last week and Curacao was our second stop. We were looking forward to a day of snorkeling because we had heard that your beautiful island was a great place to snorkel. We were blown away by the beauty of the island and the snorkeling. We were also overwhelmed by the tour guide your company provided us with. Not only was Howard informative and entertaining, he went way out of his way to make sure we saw the beauty of the island. We not only got to see the beautiful snorkeling sites, but we also got to see how amazingly historic and lovely the island really is. Without Howard, this would not have been possible. Please, thank Howard again for us.
Curacao was our favorite stop of the cruise and we will highly recommend your company to future travelers. No other place that we visited even came close to your snorkeling! If we ever get to visit again, we hope that Howard if available to show us around.
Curacao is truly a tropical paradise. Thank you for you services.

Hello Han and Anite,
I have to tell you that the trip we took with Anite was one of the highlights of our trip to Curacao. We really enjoyed seeing the other side of the island with its natural beauty, as well as the problems caused by humans. It was quite a contrast to what we were experiencing at Breezes. I would recommend it to anybody traveling to Curacao, provided that they up for the adventure. I am totally amazed by the mud we got stuck in. I’m used to getting all sorts of vehicles un-stuck from the snow and ice we get around here and I figured it would be simple to extricate your vehicle. It’s hard to believe it took the Marines with their massive vehicles to remove us, in the process breaking the tow line!

I had to write to tell you that the tour was excellent and Han was the absolute best. We have three teenage sons who were with us, and they all said this was the best excursion of the whole trip. Han was so knowledgeable about everything and took the time to go out of his way to point out not only the main parts of the tour but small details as well. He took great interest and pride in showing us the various features of the island. Please thank him again for us and tell him Paul, Shelley, Sean, Ryan & Connor say hello. We are looking to return for a week in Feburary. We've been cruising the internet looking for rental houses and there seems to be a pretty good selection. We thought we would quiz you as to what your recommendations would be for a group of about 6 - 8 adults to come for a week visit in February. Any villa rental ideas? Dear Han and Anite:
Well we had another excellent adventure with you last week. I never thought I would enjoy the desert and cave tour as much as I did our snorkel tour last year, but Han you were an exceptional guide once again. The caves and the “bullseye” were fascinating. The scenery was spectacular. Our friends Rosemary and Harry also enjoyed the tour immensely. Rosemary was a little nervous about the snorkelling, but you picked the perfect spot for her to try out the new equipment. Our pictures all came out fantastic. It was especially fun to be part of the film making process. I hope the footage was spectacular. I did another write up on cruise critic under the topic of “Has anyone taken a tour with Curacao-Actief”. Follow this link: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=467167 . Scroll halfway down the page until you hit the title Curacao-Actief Desert and Cave tour report.

Hi Clarre!!! (That is your Kansas name - okay?)
There are no words to cover the experience that we had in Curacao. Here I was a little Kansas girl that was scared to death to snorkel for the first time. (In Kansas we have no large bodies of water - let alone a huge ocean that actually has a life of its own underneath the water!) Our guide was Clarre - not only beautiful but immediately became a part of our family) - who is from Holland originally was the ABSOLUTE most wonderful person in the world. She was not only patient (you have to be with people from Kansas - ha!) explained everything that I was suppose to do and then actually got into the water with me and took me on an experience of a lifetime. Never in my life have I seen anything so wonderful - Mr. Octo left me a little breathless - but, was that ever AMAZING - I can't wait to snorkel again!!!! The history of the island was an extra treat and very much appreciated. The old fort and the hospital was super interesting - you don't see those everyday now do you. I got great pictures of them from the cruise ship as we were leaving - EVERYONE I meet from now on is going to get your number - you guys are the BEST EVER!!!!!! Thanks for wonderful time - we WILL meet again!!! Remember that you are welcome here anytime - new friends are wonderful - it makes the world a little smalller!!!! I'll send you pictures later this week - and be good! God Bless! Margie - from the Land of Oz!!!! (and now snorkeling)

Our FABULOUS day in Curacao!
This is an excerpt. Pls see this link for the full article.
*THURSDAY 12/7 CURACAO. Word of the day: “WOW!” We LOVED this island, In beauty, I place it just below Bora Bora. We had arranged to hit a few beaches through www.curacao-actief.com .......
We were met by our tourguides/bodyguards, Saskia and Priscilla. .....Absolutely wonderful! ....Our first beach was the one that I picked out. Daaibooi Baai (“Die-Boy”). WOW! This place was virtually deserted. Fabulous! ... I’d NEVER seen such an assortment of fish. Some of the biggest Parrot Fishes that I’d EVER seen! The snorkeling was breathtaking. Water clarity was wonderful. WOW! ....These expectations were fulfilled a thousand-fold! I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this company. I’ve dying to go back to Curacao and hit a few more beaches. WOW!..... Heck, we were just along for the ride and loving every minute of it!!! ....Anite, is to be applauded for planning this customized beach tour. We emailed back and forth a few times, then she called to chat, getting an idea of our expectations. These expectations were fulfilled a thousand-fold! I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this company. (Especially after seeing 2 other tour companies who had their clients packed like sardines in their vehicles!)

Anite, Peg and I had a wonderful time on Curacao. I can't get over how great the snorkeling was, and I am so glad that I swam out as far as I did. What a beautiful snorkeling site. I thought that the countryside was beautiful as well with a lot of diversity, from mountains to the beach. I hope that we get to return some day. It was a day that we will never forget!

We are still talking to everybody here about the snorkeling in Curacao, I wish we never came home. It is approximately 17F degrees outside. It was snowing a little bit last night. You could say we miss the Caribbean just a little bit.
I am still hoping that we can get down to Curacao next year. I have that tile sitting on my kitchen window sill. I see it everyday, and dream of paradise. I hope everything is going well for you and your business. If we get down there next year I will definetely give you a call, we'll have to go out to dinner. I have been looking at a couple of the resorts you drove us past. I can dream right!!!! I'll let you go I just wanted to drop you a note of huge thanks for the trip we really enjoyed it. I will post a review on it, this weekend if I get a chance on cruisecritic. Take Care. Have a Great Holiday!!!! Hope you don't get any Snow (Just kidding). Enjoy!!!!

It was really nice to meet you during our excursion. We absolutely loved our tour! We were grateful to be with you on our own especially since the people on board were getting to us. Our tour was most enjoyable and certainly for us YOU made it great! We appreciated how clean and tidy your vehicle was, how you did everything you could to make us feel comfortable and were always eager to do more for us. You were very down to earth and easy to talk to and it is clear to us that you love what you do.
The two places you took us to were perfect for us. The timing of the entire tour worked perfectly for us. I liked the little added extra you gave us in touring the Fort and the hospital....very interesting. The snacks provided were very enjoyable...tasty in fact!
For us this was an all round perfect tour. I hope your company doesn't lose the personal touch as you grow your company. We will definitely be recommending you to folks we know who go to Curacao. We hope to be back there again in the near future and look forward to seeing you again at that time.
Thanks again for making us feel at home and showing us a good time and for sharing so many personal stories with us. It made our vacation!

I cannot thank you enough for the hiking excursion to the top of Christiffel Park. We really, really enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. You were a wonderful guide - so thoughtful and entertaining. I am reall happy to have chosen Actief. My husband and I went to two of the restaurants you recommended. I can't remember the name of the one we actually ate at. However, the owner was extremely pleasant. Thank you for recommending. We also found some raw milk on a farm not too far from Dinah Veeris. I don't drink it but my husband got some for himself. We had a wonderful time. Good luck to you and your husband. Sorry we didn't get to meet him. I am quite sure that he has a wonderful spirit like yours.

Sorry for taking so long to thank you! We had a great time in Curacao and a big part of it was because of you and Han. Han came out great in the pictures, perhaps next time we'll have the pleasure in meeting in person.
Thanks again, Ricardo

Hi Anite and Han:
Many thanks to you both for such a warm greeting to us here and to Anite for a first class tour of such a special island. We met several people today who know Yubi's work and we saw a piece at a local building....what an interesting experience it all was. We have been continuously discussing yesterday and digesting the experiences. We agreed that the island exceeded our expectations....in all respects. I'm going to obtain a Papiamento DVD and see if I can decipher the language a bit more....it is truly fascinating...in its sounds and origins. I tried to order I've been looking at Yubi's website....it doesn't due real justice to his imagination but it is very interesting nonetheless. The lunch at the "farm" (Kas di Pal'i Maishi) was also really an experience.....the man who waited on us was unforgettable. Keep up the good work.....and...oh....the flamingos...
I could watch them for hours. We will, sadly, leave here tomorrow after a glorious stay....thanks again for everything......

Hi Anite and Han,
Well we are home and getting back to work and the swing of things. We just want to say how wonderful our trip was and it was so great meeting you and getting to spend your birthday with you. We have most of our pics but are still going through them, there are a ton. We will get some to you soon. Thanks again for making our vacation so wonderful and hope to see you in the US soon.

Han and Anite,
I thought I would send you some pictures that I took on our hike up Mt. Christoffel that I think turned out very well. Feel free to use them on your website or in brochures if you like. I talked to the Manager of Breezes resort and mentioned that I really enjoyed your hike and that I thought they should work with you to provide "active" hikes to their guests. Beth and I really enjoyed our hike up the Christoffel Mountain and the tour of the north coast afterwards. We even told our friends back home in North Carolina about the vacation, and they are considering coming next year. Perhaps we will see you again! You can probably guess that Beth would LOVE to hike up the mountain again!
Again, thanks for the tour

We're back home from our cruise and just wanted to send along a quick thank-you for a great day in Curacao! It was really nice spending the day with you and Han, and getting to know you both a bit. We got some great pictures at Shete Boka! We'll try and keep in touch from time to time, and let you know what happens later in the year with the baby. By the way, we had lunch at the Gouverneur and it was terrific - right out on the main deck overlooking the water. Thanks for that recommendation! Hope all is well with you both, and hope to cross paths with you again someday!

Snow was on the ground when we departed Traverse City Michigan on 31 March. It was impossible to get to Curacao in one day so we had to lay over in Miami and catch the plane on the 1st of April. We had to go through the same thing on the way back. These days, travel by Air is fast but hectic. We always feel like cattle being herded from one corral to another. I think this may be one reason so many of our friends are taking cruises these days or driving. When I retired from the Air Force I vowed I'd never get on another airplane.
We arrived in Curacao in the early afternoon, rented a car and went directly to our hotel on the island. Curacao is a former Dutch colony just off the coast of Venezuela and is part of a group called the "ABC" islands (Aruba, Curacao, Bonaire) . The Dutch had plantations on the island and used slave labor until about 1880 when the practice was abolished.
There is a lot of very interesting history on the island and we were lucky enough to find out about Curacao-Actief, a tour company run by Han Geurtsen & Anite Windrich. Anite arranged our schedule before we left, met us at the hotel the first day, and stayed in touch with us the entire time we were on the island. Han was our guide for several of the adventures and is a very knowledgeable historian and naturalist. More and more tour companies are specializing in what is known as ecotourism and we believe this is a very positive trend. Curacao-Actief has studied the island carefully and their website outlines an extensive menu of recreational opportunities. By the end of the week, we felt as if we had known Han and Anite for many years.
Our week in Curacao was a whirlwind of activity. We saw and did a lot of things thanks to Han and Anite, but next time I'd like to do more diving and sailing and go at a slower pace. We have gotten away from diving over the last few years but this trip has renewed my interest in this sport. I'd like to check out some of the better known dive sites in the ABC islands.

I just wanted to write and thank Han and Anite for the most excellent adventure you provided to us on our day in Curacao. I posted a write up on the cruise critic website in the ports of call area on the Boards. It truly was the best excursion that we have ever taken, and I am so glad that I found the Curacao-Actief website. You and Anite were so friendly and knowledgeable and you made us feel so welcome. The snorkeling and hiking were fantastic, and lunch was great fun.. Our pictures just don’t do the island justice. I can’t believe that we didn’t get a picture of you and Anite. We have been regaling our friends with the story of us jumping off the rocks into the water and the underwater swim to the Blue room.
We booked another cruise in 2007 and will want to book another excursion with you when we arrive.
Thank you again for a wonderful day.

We just returned from our Jan 23-Feb4 Brilliance of the Seas cruise and I wanted to post a report on an excellent excursion that we booked with a company called Curacao Actief https://www.curacao-actief.com/ . We spent a full day with Han Geurtsen and Anite exploring some of the best snorkelling sites I have ever been to.
Curacao Actief offers a number of different excursions on their website, but we needed a custom made one because of the hours that the cruise ship was in port. I sent an email to Han and asked if they offered excursions for cruise passengers. He responded that they could tailor one to our needs. I asked for a combination snorkel and hiking day that would allow us to see some of the island as well as snorkelling.
We visited three snorkel locations, hiked and went for lunch at a local Creole restauraunt far off of the beaten path. We also saw some of the architectural and fortress sites, and Han was very knowledgeable about the these sites and also about the flora and fauna of the area.
The first snorkel site was called Director's Bay and it was amazing. The four of us snorkelled for about an hour and we saw every type of fish imaginable. Han gave us a laminated chart of the tropical fish that are in the area and we were able to take it into the water with us to identify the fish we were seeing. We were the only people snorkelling here.
Then we went to a snorkel site called the Tugboat and snorkelled over a sunken tugboat. This too was really nice. We saw several scuba divers beneath us. There were other people at this location, but not too many.
The final snorkel site was called the Blue Room and involved a hike of about 25 minutes through a forested area. We reached the water and jumped in off of the coral rock face and swam to an outcropping of coral. We had to swim underwater for about 10 feet to get into the Blue Room which is an underwater cave with amazing light features. When the sun shines and you are in the Blue Room with whole room turns blue and it was amazing. We then climbed back up the rock face and hiked back to the car.
They drove us back to the ship at 4PM and we had the best time. I would highly recommmend Curacao Actief for those of you who want to experience Curacao off the beaten track. This is definitely an excursion for snorkelling enthusiasts and people who like to get outdoors and see what the island has to offer. Han and Anite were the nicest people, and we felt like we had spent the day with friends.
Even if you aren't into snorkelling they offer many other activities including biking, hiking, and water sports. If anyone has any questions please let me know I'd be happy to answer them.

Dear Han and Anite,
Our tans may be fading but our memories of a great time in Curacao are still as clear as the wonderful warm sea! We want to thank you both for the very informative tours. The Eco Safari Desert and Caves tour was very interesting. A picnic at the entrance to the cave was an excellent idea. The hike up Christoffel Mountain was made all the more interesting by Han pointing out important flora and fauna which also served as a much needed and well deserved pit stop on the way to the summit!
And what a way to spend Christmas Day, jumping from 10 metres high cliffs into the sea! We will certainly recommend your tours and activities to family and friends.
Good luck with all your future ventures and plans. Until next time (yes we will be back to do the rest of the tours!)

I had the privilege to take Curacao Actief's Eco Safari in June 2005, a very enjoyable, insightful and most personal experience. We visited places and saw things that we would have definitely not seen without our experienced local guide. Throughout my holidays in Curacao, I also met Ingmar (windsurfing) and Iko (catamaran), two cool guys willing to share their passion with others.
What a great team of people, a memorable tour and a terrific island!
Thank you, Anite and Han.

I wanted to thank you and your wonderful staff for an awesome mountain bike ride! I hope to return in the future. Or if any of the island cyclist want to ride in the San Francisco Bay Area, Monterey and/or Lake Tahoe area, just let me know. Of course, there are epic trails (right by my house) in the Santa Cruz mountains.
In any event, keep up the good work and I'll see ya on the trails! :)

I just wanted to let you know that my family and I had a wonderful time on the jeep-tour last week. It truly was one of the highlights of our visit to the island! Our photographs came out very good, but still do not completely capture the beauty of being there in person. Thank you very much for all of your efforts in coordinating our adventure.
Curacao-Actief has a very good product, and we wish you well in your endeavors.
Best regards, John Hutter

We loved the ecotour and all that Curacao has to offer. You and Anite, Terrence, Theo and of course Renate were just wonderful. Thanks so much for making our visit to Curacao so special. Best of luck with your business venture and living in Curacao.
Hope you enjoy your new home and settle in quickly.
